Shot my 2nd 300 and 2nd highest series ever last week using the P+S all 3 games: 219-243-300 for 762. Thanks to Mike Austin, my driller from afar for many many years!
I've struggled at this house and I finished with a 190 average jumping in late in the season last year (13 weeks total), came into last week at 202 primarily thanks to this ball and it will obviously be quite a bit higher now...I'm more comfortable with my average in the 205 - 215 range.
The series should have been about 825, which would be my 1st 800. I went screaming scout 7 and pocket 7-10 in frames 1+2 game 1 (also causing me to lose my bracket by 7 pins), then blew a 276 game on #2 by not taking enough time on a ball after a lane breakdown in game 2, leaving 3-6-9-10, then leaving the 3. There was also another 3-6-10 spare miss in game 1, that spare gives me fits for some reason.
This ball has been an incredible match for me. It reminds me a lot of my Smokin' Inferno in its heyday, which is the other ball I shot 300/785 with. It's obviously stronger, a little more speed sensitive in that if you come in slow it's going to start to turn early; most pearls are more problematic when you throw it too hard. Also, I know this is very subjective, but something about this ball...it hits the pocket harder than just about any ball I've ever owned. Others have commented on that as well, that strikes "sound" different when I'm throwing this ball.
Unfortunately it's left me with a dilemma in my arsenal. I bought this to go in between my Nexus and my P+R. Unfortunately, contrary to the promo materials, it's in no way a midpoint between those two balls and pretty close to the Nexus in overall strength. It has a different motion due to the higher RG core, yet starts a little earlier, and the backend is obviously much firmer on this ball. What I'm wondering about is the factory finish...it was supposed to come rough buff/compound but it sure looks high gloss to me, definitely a lot shinier than my Absolute Inferno or Vapor Zone arrived. I don't want to take this ball out of box thanks to the results, so I'm thinking of doing that to the Nexus and seeing if I can make it fit between the P+S and P+R, maybe even take it to 2000 no polish and get a real "Absolute Inferno on steroids" reaction...makes more sense to make the lower RG ball the stronger pearl anyway.
Anyway, I can't say enough good things about this ball. A strong pearl is my go-to ball and I stick with one for a long time...Smokin' Inferno > Awesome Flip > Nexxxus P+S. I'm going to hold on to this one for a while, I can tell.
