Ball choosing help
« on: January 08, 2006, 05:58:37 AM »
Okay i'm bowling for my high school and in a league, we don't travel so its at the same lanes, they are medium-medium oily lanes, and i need a new ball, i'm looking for a pretty big hook for the conditions, i throw a medium maybe a little bit on the slower side ball with medium-high revolution and medium axis rotation, what ball should i be looking at brunswick or anythingelse, thanks in advance for input

Smoking Inferno is the perfect match for you...Its a strong rolling, predictable, medium oil ball.

The DynoThane Energy is also perfect for this condition.. it is the most underated ball to date. In my opinion it has the most strong rolling, easily readable reaction you can get.  It has good lenth and a strong hard arc.

Ebonite's The One is also perfect... Just make sure you get it drilled by a person who knows ho wto layout assemetrical balls, with certain limitations.

Vapor Zone i think would be a better choice. It's more versatile plus it hooks more. Smokin' Inferno needs to have a more specific lane surface to work. A vapor Zone drilled with a 4 1/2" pin with mb at 55 degrees (between VAL and thumb).

Storm Fired Up and Paradigm are both good options. Fired Up might be a bit too snappy though and if you don't drill the Paradigm to roll too early then it should work out.

Well, I'd also basically suggest either an Absolute Inferno or the Smokin' Inferno. The AI should be easier to control and work better on oilier conditions, though, the SI can be quite spasmic and condition specific. I think the AI is more versatile.

The Vapor Zone is an option too, a go-between the AI and SI. If you have an experienced ball driller at hand who knows your game and how to drill asymmetric core balls, this should be the best choice for you: control and backend pop at the same time.

Another option beyond Brunswick could be a MoRich Shock & Awe. Activator+, liek the AI and VZ, but glossier, with a fiendishly aggressive asymmetrical core. This thing hooks, you can bet, but you definitively need a good ball driller to make the ball work for you - more than with a VZ!

And a final alternative besides Brunswick is IMHO the XXcel from Ebonite. Big hook, smooth, controllable (light laod particle), well suited for medium to medium-oily conditions. Also asymmetrical.
