Fuze Igniter/ Raging Red selection question
« on: June 23, 2003, 08:11:51 AM »
Right now I have a Inferno, stacked leverage, and a Red/Black Monster, pin under ring, cg a little to the right, with a small hole. I've been looking on Ebay, and I see a lot of Raging Red Fuzes, and Fuze Igniters for cheap. Could I use one of those balls, considering what I have already, or the two Fuzes overlap them?
Thanks.

The inferno & Raging Red might cross over a little too much.

However the igniter should go a lot longer than the inferno as long as you dont drill it to turn really early. I find my igniter to be great on screaming back ends or medium length oil. However when the oil gets a little long or there's carrydown to contend with, I simply dont have enough hand to get it to turn the corner. Your experience may be different.

Both are snappier than what you got.  Red earlier than the Igniter.

Me I like the Smash/r but it is not far from your Inferno.

Good luck,

Thanks for the replies. If you had to choose between the Red and the Iginter, and you already own The Inferno, and The Monster Red/Black, which would you chooes?

I guess the question that I have is what type of reaction you're looking for.  Are you looking for a specific shot shape that the other two don't give you, or just something that fits between the Inferno and Red/Black?  If it were me, and the latter were true, I'd opt for the Raging Red.  However, if I was looking for something to give me better length and a sharper back end, I'd go for the Igniter.

So was that sufficiently vague for you?

Poöter Boöf,
You got me with the vague comment. I now understand that there is not much difference between the Raging Red and the Inferno, so if I got one, it would be to have on hand to replace the Inferno. What I didn't get from the replies was how close the Igniter was to the Red/Black. I would do the same if they were that close.

To me, the Igniter and the Red/Black are very different.  The Red/Black tends to be smoother from front to back;  when I first threw it, the look that I got reminded me of the Sapphire Zone, except cleaner in front.  The Igniter wants to be a lot skiddier in front and snappier off of the dry boards, almost like a highly polished V2 Pearl, but with more lope.  Again, these are my observations;  your mileage may vary.

If you wanted to duplicate the reaction of the Red/Black, you could probably experiment with scuffing and re-polishing the Igniter and get it fairly close.  However, you'd be better off just buying another Red/Black;  after all, they're a lot cheaper.

Hope this helps.
