No review of Nirvana in BTM or Bowlers Journal?
« on: November 28, 2015, 06:55:29 PM »
with my sport league about to hit our heavy oil pattern and me needing to replace an old ball (Virtual Gravity) I was wanting to read more on the nirvana.

To my surprise I am not able to find a review on BTM and teammate with a subscription to Bowlers Journal has said they haven't seen one there either.

are those 2 publications no longer reviewing Brunswick equipment?  reviews still in progress?  Did I just miss it?

I was aware BTM no longer getting balls, surprised to hear BJI didn't get one. No answer as to 'why' has been provided. Just claims the HP balls are still provided. Though lack of reviews of said HP balls suggests otherwise.

Have had two drilled. One by a friend local and one shipped out further away. Both agree the ball flat out hooks. Not sure what else to tell you other then plan accordingly.

BJI did in fact review it. Ask your buddy to check the October issue again

No review of the DV8 Vandal in BTM.  I had considered it before Brunswick, etal decided not to submit mid to lower end balls for reviews.  Big mistake IMO market share loss to companies like Motiv who submit everything.  Being that the majority of bowlers use entry level to mid level balls on THS house leagues.

So I'm not the only one. Hear that Brunswick/DV8/Radical?

I'm with Scott and Snakster in that I prefer BTM over BJI and seem to resonate with the findings of BTM much more than BJI.

And another thing that I love about BTM is that all of their reviews are online and can be accessed very easily, compares can be done online to see where they think a certain ball fits in the lineup, etc.  BJI is still in the stone age when it comes to online accessibility.

Phil/Nick, any response as to why Radical, DV8 and Brunswick are not sending equipment to BTM?

We send high end balls to BTM. The latest batch should be reviewed soon as there was a mixup with the Nirvana. (Thug Life and Guru Supreme coming as well)

Why are only the high end balls getting reviewed Nick?

It was a business decision based on the decrease of reach when the publication stopped and transitioned into an online-only model. I know it won't be a popular answer as there are still loyal BTM readers, but that was the decision we made. It may change back in the future, nothing is ever set in stone.

Disregard parts of my diatribe in the other thread. Thank you for the reasoning behind the decision. I still think they are throwing the baby out with the bath water.  Admittedly, I do not know what BTM subscriber numbers are.

Maybe you can start a topic in Misc seeing who is a paying subscriber to BTM. I would be interested to see how many Ballreviews members pay for the publication.

I am and I am not happy that the Brunswick family no longer has their balls reviewed by BTM.

I also subscribe to BTM.  And I rely heavily on their ball evaluations in my purchasing decisions.
