O.K., so, I got this FURY.......
« on: July 12, 2007, 03:55:30 PM »
and JESUS does this thing HOOK!

Standing further left and playing deeper than ever before.  I even had to try it once, so I lined up agains the ball return on lane 3 ( was on lanes 3-4, bowling on lane 4 at the time! ), slide step ended up even with the right gutter on lane three, lofted over the gutter cap, played the third arrow on the left hand side of lane four out to the breakpoint on 12th board and CRUSHED the rack.

Way too much ball like it is. Guess it's time for a trip to the shop for a polish job. Hope it doesn't flip too hard afterwards.

P.S. ball is set up 5 X 3 1/2, pin under bridge with a small, deep flare reducing x-hole on the midline, 3 inches from grip center.

Before you try polish, try about 2000 abralon. The ball will be very clean through the heads, but be a little more predictable at the breakpoint.

I brought mine up to 1000 and it seems to work really well. Still has plenty of hook.

Mine is at 1000 Abralon with Rough Buff. For me it gives me length through the heads with a strong but controllable backend.

What type of lane surface are you bowling on?

Hoss,

Not sure of the brand, but they are full synthetics, installed several years back.

I know for sure they aren't guardians, but I never have known just exactly what brand they are.  Knowing the owner, they were a lower priced brand, but they seem to have held up pretty well.

I realize this won't help much, except to let you know they are synthetic.

Well it sure sounds like they aren't anvilane, so that kinda helps. Depending on the motion your looking for I would either try 4000 Abralon or Ruff Buff. Try that and tell us how it works.

Hoss,

went this route.  Since the shop here is small and very limited as to their supplies, I tried to be creative.

I had them take it up to 1000 grit ( finest they had ), then hard polish it with finesse it.

Still reads the lane well, but now has really good length, arcy midlane, and strong, "rolly/flippy" backend.

Bowling four game sets during the summer, I shoot 234-236-236-279 for a 985 and the ball was readable with predictable adjustments and no surprises all night long.

The only 800 series I've ever shot was with an original inferno, but, with  this ball as clean through the fronts and nearly as "rolly" in the backs,  I can see me shooting some good numbers with it now.
