OK Brunswick Nation... I need your help!
« on: October 17, 2006, 07:46:48 AM »
Pick a ball for me to use tomorrow morning and each week on, 1st ball outta the bag.

I've been using my PBA Red/Black on a fresh 1st shift THS pattern, with surprisingly little effectiveness. The layout is the same as my other Original Inferno, the Red/Black has been too much Over/Under, I think the fresh pattern has very little buffing, and offers a sharp cutoff from Oil to Dry.

I'm actually wishing for some sloppy backends to even things out.

In the 2nd half of the morning ive been using my 2nd combat zone tracer to smooth things out from the PBA Red/Black's over reaction as the pattern shortens up.

here is my arsenal that is available, these are AMF HPL Synthetic lanes.

Brunswick
  • PBA Red/Black

  • Original Inferno

  • Absolute Inferno

  • Absolute Inferno

  • Danger Zone Black

  • Combat Zone Tracer

  • Combat Zone Tracer

  • Target Zone

  • Lane #1
  • Enriched Uranium

  • Uranium Pearl

  • H2O

  • give me a little explaination with your pick, thanks!

I don't have one, but from what I hear the Absolute is a very versatile ball, privided you've been taking care of em. Switch to OI for more oil, Danger Zone for less oil- keep it simple.

    My 2 cents...

I'd be looking for a nice solid to smooth out the over under. That being said, the H2O, if it's asoild, should work just fine.

    H2O is a pearl

    i was leaning that way.

    Absolute Inferno #1

will give me close to the same look as the combat zone tracer #2, but on fresher/heavier shot.

Uranium pearl - pin down will give you a bit more roll but still clear the heads enough to retain some backend. Pattern somewhat close to tracer 1 but more flare. If too much backend go absolute. More upfront rev than either OI. Can't believe there is a ton of oil if your at Boulevard or the greeks. If your at the greeks the DZ is a good choice also.

I'm at Boulevard, but the cutoff from Oil to Dry has been extreme the first 6 weeks.

Usually the OI is smooth as butter at transition, but not now.

I just cant control the break with it.

I find myself putting it away earlier and earlier each week that goes by.
switching to the smooth breaking Combat Zone Tracer.

I have a funny feeling that just using the Tracer the first 30 frames wont cut it, I dont know that house as well as say... Rolling Greens or Bowlers Club, but I have a pretty good idea of what to expect regarding when the lanes transition and how much.

Absolute Inferno #1 seemed to do the trick.

    216-185-222

185 = 2 missed 10 pins because of thumb hanging on tape

    <rip>

    fixed that problem.

Stuck with the absolute front to back, a reminder why it was voted ball of the year, great ball, glad I have 2.

Great read on the lanes, and still the huge footprint through the pins.
