Yep, sure did. Great ball, but not the best when playing inside. I can't redrill the one I have for Sarge because the pin will be in the way.

I think mine was 3 3/8 x 20 with a hole down. The ball just starts a little too soon and I find myself forcing it to the point when they start to dry up.
For me, RICO rules on that ball.

Why the strong drilling on the Pearl Nick? I assume the ball could probably get pretty over/under with a weaker drilling? But the stronger drilling kinda defeats the purpose of it, no?
PS - I think i'm going to pick up an Ultra Zone next week, it'll be my first Bruns ball in probably over a year.

Even with a strong layout, the ball gets plenty of length. After the video, I hit the ball with a grey pad on the Haus and put a hole 6 3/4 from the pin 45* from centerline.
Even now I only create about 2-3" of track flare with tight flare rings.

I was taught from Beans the good 'ole saying drill weak balls strong and strong balls weak.. seems to always work. Why? *shrugs* Lol.
I usually tend to drill balls according to there strengths, unless of course I'm looking for something specific .

Kind of a boring vid for you Nick. Were you tired or something? It doesn't have that BRUNSNICK "FLARE" that your vids usually have.

I drilled my solid Av with a 5" high pin as well and it backends hard too.
Thanks for drilling the pearl with a leverage layout. You can really see how it tames it down.
Back to the Sarge E grip too eh?(<that's more for Ric than you)

I like the solid as well. I don't need a new ball, but since when does that matter? Nice job.

So how does these balls compare to the mid-high end stuff? I mean, someone taking a supposed light-medium oil ball playing inside 15 doesn't say too much.

Didn't you use a Bad Religion song on an older ball review? You remember which one?

Djarum,
Our house shot never plays outside enough for me to show the line you're looking for, especially with my rev rate. The only 2 balls I've been able to play out with consistently were the Red Pin and Groove Urethane.

You should have gotten a few out to 3 board . . a REAL ball gets back from 3 board on the Shark . . Also take a lot of hand out of it, try a bunch of axis tilt and forward roll and dump it. Lol, I REALLY want to see that video. Please?

Move the CG around.

Yeah, swing the cg out, make sure you have plenty of positive sideweight, and none of this "rico" stuff. "Stacked leverage" baby. None of this pin to pap distance hogwash. The pin goes to the right of the ring finger, the cg is parallel with the grip centerline directly below the pin (or as close as you can get eyeballing it). Make sure you tear up the pattern beyond all recognition first though . . because there has to be a point to throwing a hook monster on a shot burnt to hell that USED to have oil on it. There has to be.

Might go with 17/64th side, 49/128th finger and PI/2 on the top on a 1:30.

I think you need at least a 5 7/16" pin because 5 1/2" might be too skiddy.

Nick,
What tendons are you struggling with, I have to do something to save my wrist before I'm wheeling ten pound balls with two hands. Will the sarge take pressure off the wrist?
-
crankncash, the ring finger is the main tendon stretching from the knuckles back to the wrist. I injured this years back, as the specialist said, was a hyperextension for too much torque. With Sarge, I feel no pain because the ring finger is not doing any work. I've also stopped tucking my pinky in hopes to reduce the grip pressure.
So far, so good!
Donny, Damien was a son of someone there, someone with great background in the PBA and bowling in general. He was a handful, but hilarious to Ric & I. He always had a quick answer to everything, with the same tone everytime. Classic.
As for Kool-Aid and the meaning... well I suppose that is better left unsaid.
If someone wants to give their viewpoint, feel free.

Thanks Nick, after reading that it reminds me of how I first hurt myself and how I was bowling when I wasn't feeling pain AND how I have changed it lately... The darn pinky tuck, for a couple of years I couldn't even do it, then of late I was stuggling to get the ball where I wanted it, went back to the pinky tuck with no pain, and now I am feeling it again. I guess its time to change that up. If that fails, its time to try something else I guess, Sarge may be in my future. I tried a friend's ball (actually was mine, I gave it to him and he tried sarge on it) and it wasn't much difference for me as far as adjusting. Is there a magic formula for determining how/where to drill the ring finger?
-
Nope, the only real modification is using reverse pitch for the conventional ring finger.
