I know this has been noted before, and Big B probably doesn't want to hear it, but it's true! Older heavy oil balls are the new medium oil balls for today. Case in point...I bowl in 4 completely different houses. Two houses have a light oil to dryish THS. The other house has a 38' medium shot, and the last house I bowl in has 41' medium shot. That being said, I have my arsenal mapped out for the drier THS's because my equipment is interchangeable there. But the equipment I have been scoring very well with on the 41' pattern, absolutely does not work on the shorter 38' pattern which is actually medium-medium dry. So I was planning on changing the surfaces of a couple of balls, but doing that might make them useless in one of the other houses.
So I remembered a thread on here, talking about older heavy oil balls. BINGO! I pull out an old Red Alert and an old Demolition Zone and VOILA!!! I am back in the money. Used them on my longer pattern recently, during a 2nd game change and I finish out the night 265-240!! The 240 should have been a 279, that's how good my look was!
So now I am free to change surfaces on my other arsenal. It is amazing to me that these balls which I used to use primarily on heavy stuff, back when I was a stroker, are now perfect for this medium stuff now. I am so glad I have a library of balls in my basement!
Sorry, Big B. I won't be getting that Meanstreak, after all.

The Demolition was never more than a medium oil ball.
The Red Alert was a lower RG Danger Zone; as such, it was a medium-heavy oil ball.
If you keep the Demolition polished and you polish the Red Alert, you have a ball that handles medium-light oil and a ball that handles true medium oil today.
Basically, the Karma solid handles medium-heavy oil, when dull, and medium-light t0 medium oil, when polished.
Not surprised you can use them so well.
Tried a 2000 grit Karma on a medium-heavy sport pattern a few weeks back. Almost hooked too much, especially in the backend. ;D
