Swarm nice rolling ball
« on: July 09, 2008, 01:38:47 PM »
Got to throw this fine gem last night, drilled pin over ring 4 1/2 to pap and cg midgrip area so around 5 1/8 cg to pap.

Only used it one game but if you would like a gravity shift look out of a brunswick ball this is your answer. Super clean through the heads i think almost every newer ball seems to have this trait lately, backend that matches about what a widow series or shift series ball does but for 70.00 less at retail than a shift ball.

So you like playing inside out or up the boards with big backend pop this ball will suit the need, it makes now want the ugly as sin azz Copperhead my driller swears the Copperhead is even better for alittle more oil.

Think of Complete NV with equal backend just slightly less than the Gravity Shift, I mean maybe 1- 1 1/2 boards total less at that.

Your gonna like this ball the colors revving up are a sight to see, everybody loved the colors and hit helped sell two of them my first time out after telling them about K & K Bowling Services offering 30 percent off until July 31st on a rewards card.

So online does not touch that deal when you figure 164.95 plus grips and slug then 30 percent to you rewards card.

I post this because many of you come to Vegas or I hear lurk my posts here in Vegas, yes I am pro shop ho for them unofficially.

This is the most angular Brunswick ball that I've thrown. Lots of fun!

I’ve noticed that you mentioned numerous times that the Swarm is the most angular ball in the Big B lineup (and I believe you ), but how come it only has a Brunswick rating of 75 for ‘Breakpoint Shape’?

For reference, Fury Pearl has a rating of 95, Vapor Zone 90, Rampage 75, Radical Inferno 95.

Is the rating system misleading?

Thanks.

Charlie,

I'm not sure why. I've tried it at two different houses that each have different synthetic lanes, etc., and it seems that way to me. It could be that it just matches up that way for me. Almost all my stuff is laid out fairly close to each other with pin placement, too...

Another BR.com member who runs a different pro shop here in Utah has had the same experience with his where he bowls, too. I would guess that the core design has more to do with it this time since it's more of a medium RG, which should allow the ball to save it all for later on the lane?

It might just be a good match for the conditions I'm seeing lately, and as time goes on it might prove me wrong. I have not thrown it at my home house yet, strangely enough, which has newer Anvilane surface that is less friction so only time will tell.

Thanks Lane for the input, always helpful!

As there ain't many good bowlers / bowlers who use the latest gear in my area, I rely my driller's opinions (even though he's a Hammer guy and two hours drive away), Big B's ball rating chart and feedbacks from established members from this site such as yourself to help with my decision.

I won't be getting a Swarm cos I don't see myself needing that reaction right now, as my Vapor Zone is doing perfectly good job. (plus I drilled up a NIB Red Zone and NIB Classic Zone only a few weeks ago)

The Vapor is still one of my favorites! I wish I still had my Red Zone at times, and never drilled a Classic Zone, but am familiar with it by watching others roll.
If you wear out the Vapor Zone hopefully this one will still be around for you. Symmetrical cores are friendly to the bowling masses so this one should be pretty consistent.

Question for notclay: When do they place that rating on a ball, brand new after a  few throws or after a 1000 or more throws??

I have no idea... But I suspect it's after their testing with Bill Orlikowski throwing it.

We have brand new DBA lanes in my house and my Swarm goes a LONG way. I bowled on the burnt out house shot and I was able to keep my angles tight. Mine is drilled 5.5" pin above the fingres with a hole down.
