IIRC, all of the Attack Zone R's were three-piece, and used a cover that was weaker than the PowrKoil 17 on the current Power Grooves. As I also recall, you *had* to have dry boards to turn the Attack Zone over at the break, and if you used it on too much oil or tried to play too much through the oil, you'd plack corners all night. So if you're looking for an option for shorter, drier patterns, the R might not be a bad choice.
On edit: The MR had a pancake at the top, but a smaller puck at the bottom to create differential, similar to the Dynamic Groove.
