Evil Siege or Wicked Siege?
« on: March 01, 2011, 06:45:51 PM »
I'm appealing to all of you guys who have had experience with both the Evil Siege and the Wicked Siege.  I know that the Wicked Siege is the newest model, but that is no guarantee that that the replacement ball is necessarily the better ball.  I currently have an Evil Siege drilled pin down 45 x 4.5 x 70 and like the way it rolls except that it constantly leaves 7 pins (I'm left handed).  I have the opportunity to purchase a second Evil Siege with a 4" pin to CG that I would drill pin up or a Wicked Siege with a 2.75" pin to CG which I would drill pin down.

Regardless of the drilling, I am curious as to whether you prefer the Wicked Siege over the Evil Siege or vice-versa and the reasons why?

Personally, I'm not a big fan of rough buffed finished balls and prefer the 4000 micro-pad finish on the Evil Siege, however I know that the Wicked Siege cover can be changed, but that would also change the balls reaction, right.

Lastly, in all of the literature that I have read on the Brunswick website, I can't find the procedure that Brunswick uses to refinish its micro-pad finished balls.  They always print how to refinish the polished covers and the rough buff covers, but not the sanded covers.  Take the Evil Siege or Wild Thing for instance, both balls have a final 4000 micro-pad finish, but how did Brunswick reach that final finish?  Do they start at 220or 400 or 500 then proceed to maybe 1000, 2000 then finish up with 4000?  Any help will be appreciated.  I've got a C-System 4.5 with the factory rough buff finish that I'm not really happy with the balls reaction, any suggestions for a change of finish; I was thinking of either 2000 or 4000 abralon?

Thanks,

first of all, i would change the surface on the 4.5 to a smoother grit. i have had good success balling down from the evil to the 4.5 as apposed to the wicked because the wicked tends to go a little to long at times. i like all 3 pieces, but definitley first change the surface on the 4.5 before a new purchase. i keep mine @ 4000, & like it much better than oob. as far as another evil or buying a wicked, that's a tough one. the evil has a longer pin so you can do a pin up quick response layout. the wicked you probably could also. with the rebate on the wicked, i'd go with that & have a chat with your ball driller.

good luck!

The big difference between the Wicked and Evil Siege for me has been that the Wicked Siege will have more length then the Evil Siege with a stronger snap on the backend. The box surface on the Evil Siege has some length but a much smoother, less angular backend.

This can be adjusted some for either ball by adjusting the surface. Corner pins will be left by any ball when it doesn't match up well with the condition or adjustments aren't made by the bowler. The Wicked Siege for me is extremely clean through the heads and very angular on the backends.

Be good, or be good at it.

I should have mentioned that I'm retired and living in Thailand.  I don't think I would qualify for the rebate on the Wicked Siege, but I'll check it out.  That's exactly what I was thinking to do with the C-System 4.5, take it down to 4000 abralon and if that didn't work go to 2000.  I have it drilled pin down, centered under the bridge, basically a 60 x 4 x 70 drill.  It had a shorter pin so I had to go with the pin down drilling.  With the out of box finish, it just doesn't finish on the backend unless I really slow my ball speed.  My Evil Siege is world's stronger than the 4.5 at this point, stronger midlane read and stronger, sharper and more continuous backend move.

I would  suggest a surface change on the 4.5 as well.  In fact, I stripped the box finish on both of mine and with to a 500 Siaair finish with 4000 to finish on one and 2000 on the other.  The Wicked Siege is a little longer out of the box but it is also a little more versatile.  In general, I like the Wicked Siege over the Evil Siege.
