Ace38, shifting the CG to the right (for a righty) from the center of the grip puts more positive sideweight into the ball and if I remember by Brunswick drill sheet right, drill pattern 2L has the Pin close to your ring finger. This drilling will allow the ball to skid further down the lane before it picks up a roll, but it will have stronger backend reaction because of the placement of the CG. So this will give you a more skid/snap reaction on the lane. For a down and in bowler, this should work well for you if you are trying to open the lane up some because making the ball stronger will give you a more margin of error for the ball to recover to the pocket.
