I couldn't pass this one up:
http://home.mchsi.com/~s-cross-7-28-71/PBA_ball.JPG
Any of you "BrunsGuys" have any scoop on this ball? Since color affects reaction, what can I expect? Does the red/black color cause any noticable difference in reaction when compared to the normal Inferno with the orange/brown/smoke/whatever colors?
-
Well, it's my first time seeing this, and it looks really nice. The red looks nice.

I'm picking up 10-pins now!

Randy,
I am the one that you purchased it from hope you enjoy it.
Let me know how it works out for you.

If you get caught in the Storm Track beware it could be a Typhon or Monsoon with Rolling Thunder and Lightning Flashes that when Unleashed may send splintered Wood flying everywhere.

That ball is hot, Can someone verify but I think they had one of these sitting in the front of the ball return during the telecast it was on the right side of the ball return beside the other ball king of the lanes or whatever. I know it was cause I could see a red pearl looking ball that said PBA tour and I didn't know what is was but it never moved it wasn't one of the bowlers balls I think it was one of these inferno's.
--------------------
I should just quit bowling, oh wait I already tried that.
Now that I am back and my Saws are sharp again, I am ready to cut some wood.
-
Is that the ball Steelsmith was throwing on the show, Sunday????
Is this a new addition to the Inferno line, where does it fall in line
to say the Ultimate, Raging and Intense Infernos ??
-
Hey Storm - the price was nice too! Thanks.
I would like to hear from a Brunswick staffer/employee who's thrown one before I lay out the ball.
-
Sorry about that (NOT). When I see something "unusual" on Ebay that I want, I go for it ASAP.
Sorry about the Crown Jewel. Actually, you're lucky that you got it away from me. My normal M.O. is that I don't even bid at all, then snipe in the last 10 seconds to steal the bid as cheap as possible. That prevents unecessary price-hiking. However, that crown jewel ended at 6-something in the morning Pacific Time, and since I don't wake up until at LEAST 8:30, I had to bid when I went to sleep.
-
Dude, that is SWEET!
I want that!
In addition to the zone classic, impulse zone and fire quantum.
And the sad thing.........i'll get none of them ever.

What's the big deal?
Isn't it just an Inferno with a different color scheme?
And hasn't Brunswick released *enough* Infernos, already? I don't like any of them; they all hook at my toes.

Well - I can't speak for everyone else, but it's a big deal to me! It's nice to have something different to talk about once in a while!
I have one Inferno that DOESN'T hook at my feet:
http://www.pipeline.com/~randyo/arsenal/15%23%20Inferno%204.jpg
As a matter of fact, it barely hooks at all with that layout. BUT - it hits like a tank. However, it is exceptionally ugly. I'd rather haul around the red one. My "plan" is to drill up the red one just like the ugly one.
Given all the previous discussions about the effect coloring has on ball reaction, I thought it best to see if anyone has thrown this ball and could compare it to the orginal colored Inferno. If it turns out it might be weaker, I might kick the pin out just a tiny bit.
Leave us alone - don't you have some diapers to change??

Dusty, I'd hate to bowl where you bowl if ALL the Infernos hook at your feet. As far as "enough" Infernos, we're doing what the distributors and pro shops asked, continuing to make a brand that sells and giving them enough time to sell them.
As far as the Red PBA ball (Inferno), I will speak with a couple guys in R & D to find out what they saw from this ball. None of us outside of the factory have touched this ball. It does look nice though.

Maybe it's just me, but I have NEVER seen an inferno look that ugly. That rates up there with one of the worst looking balls I've seen.

And you're seeing the good side of the ball. The back side is hideous looking, with a large orange blotch that looks like someone spilled paint on the ball. It was supposed to be one of those "off-color" balls that gets sold as seconds, but the seller of this one never gave me THAT info. When it arrived in the mail, I laughed so hard I almost cried. It was sooooo ugly I just HAD to keep it and drill it up. It does get comments. In Brunswick's defense - they sent me another ball, even though they didn't have to. What a company!
But, I would like to replace it with an identical layout Inferno. The orange blotch feels different than the rest of the ball - almost like it's not reactive! I do track through that area, and every so often the ball doesn't react quite the way I think it should. That may be due to the orange blotch.
-
Ball arrived safely. Punched it out very tame (5.75 x 6.25):
http://www.pipeline.com/~randyo/arsenal/15pba_tour.jpg
The ball looks like a Monster Red/Black. However, it rolls and hits like an Inferno. I didn't see any difference between this ball and a normal Inferno. The color does not seem to affect the reaction at all.
-
That is pretty nice looking...

Looks like a decent deal - if there's a Pro-Am in your area. You pay $199 - you get to bowl the Pro-Am, and you get the lovely looking Red/Black Inferno.

I'm gonna convince my mom to take me to the one in garden City...
That is AWESOME! SO, for the 140, I'd bowl the 3 games, get the little extra stuff like hat, etc?
That actually is cool! I think i'll convince my parents to let me do that instead of christmas gifts........Well i should say as a gift. It really is a good deal!
