Pin Axis on Avalanche Pearl?
« on: May 14, 2008, 05:19:20 AM »
I recently drilled an Ultra Zone and have absoluetly love it (pin up & MB inch right of thumb, rt handed).  I am looking for a ball that I can transition to when the Ultra becomes too much.  I am now bolwing in a 4 game trios league and by the 4th game I have run out of room.  I have a sidewinder but I find it wants to pick up a roll too early playing the same line.

I am thinking a pin axis Avalanche Pearl would be a good fit.

My PAP is roughly 5 5/8 & 1/2 up.  Med speed & higher revs.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

my experience with pin axis drillings is that you loose alot of carry except for maybe going right up the boards. im not exacty sure what your situation is but it sounds like your way left and swinging it by your fourth game. I dont think a pin axis would be the best choice.

On my avalanche pearl i went 5 3/4 from my pap and it gave me nice length but still the little pop in the backend.

Lots of weaker options.

Rampage, Twisted Fury, Avalanche....Punisher from the old days.  Lane#1 XXXL plastic...

Pin axis carrys well for the big handed usually...

Lucky - I may not have been clear but the Avalanche Pearl is what I am considering drilling Pin Axis.

Have you tried any surface changes? I think that would be a good option, 4k and polish on a weaker ball that you already have.

BrunsRico suggested 2in pin or pin axis would tame down over under on a symetric cored ball.

If the heads are fried I don't know how well it would get through the heads, with your speed it could work.

I've put pin axis on a similar ball.

Hot Rod Hybrid.

I have softer speed and a moderate amount of hand(too much for my speed).  Or speed "recessive" as a friend says!

I found carry to be an issue with this ball.

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS I have friends with more speed and rev "recessive" and they have trouble carrying with these drills except on absolute FLYING backends!

Thanks all.  Good feedback.

Everything I have now is pin up.  My dry lane stuff consists of an RG Sonic X Solid (very long, big snap at the pins), Hammer Pure (Burgandy, hooks mor ethan I thought it would), Visionary SBG (good for dry but need to swing due to agressive drilling), XXXL (good for extreme conditions).
