does any body use car polish for their ball?

for spares or if you want it to slip down the lane, going very straight.

I use meguiar's car polish. It gives the ball a shine with a tacky feel.

I thought car polish will clog up the pores of the ball, which is a bad thing...

Most car polishes contain wax which clogs the pores of resin balls preventing the absorption of lane oil, among other things. It can vastly reduce the ability of a ball to hook. It can USUALLY only be reversed by serious sanding, of an order similar to a total resurfacing.
However, automotive polishing and rubbing compunds are very different from car waxes/polishes. They have been used in the past by ball companies and can still be used successfully IF you are aware of what you are using!
The average bowler is best off, in my opinion, in sticking to bowling ball specific polishes AND knowing what they are. (There are some with grit in them, and some without.)

I use the marine version of it and it works well to put a good high gloss polish on balls. Use indicates they do not contain any waxes.
