Asics Hydrus Pro: made by Brunswick?
« on: September 01, 2006, 11:33:46 AM »

Does anyone know anything about this ball, the Asics Hydrus Pro? I saw one refernce that it is made by Brunswick for the overseas market but I've seen another reference to Columbia. The weight block (see link) doesn't look like Big B.

any idea on the coverstock? thanks!

To me, it looks like a Columbia coverstock.  First, there is engraving and not the Brunswick lasering, and second, the color swirl is much like Columbia's.

The way the lights hitting the ball on the logo, it actually looks like Brunswicks lasering, but the color pattern definitely looks Columbia.

Not too much info. I find the name of the coverstock is PhaseII+ and
the ball is for medium oily. Not sure it made by Big-B or not.
BTW, I found another one in this brand should made by Brunswick.

After flipping through the companies listings that can be found at BBR.com I see cores from MoRich, Storm, Brunswick (Revolution too) and Track (C300 sorta).  There are other cores that look like they would only be seen in overseas balls like those produced by ABS.

Looks like Columbia core to me.

Other ball was def a big B, but that's not surprising since anybody with a little bit of money can have a ball made....aka Elite.  Makes even more sense that they are overseas balls.

they are made for asics by Brunswick.  Google "asics bowling" if you don't believe me. And it was approved in '04 not '99.
