How weak is this thing compared to a Roto Grip Venus? I want control on a shorter pattern/toast

Red Pin is very weak - overall, I'd say much like a Power Groove. Does IMHO not like oil at all, so "control" is a relative issue.

I drilled one with the pin above the bridge and it goes too long and bounces too sharply for my tastes, I may plug it and put the pin under the ring.  Overall it is very straight though, I drilled a mercury the same way and it is much smoother overall and the carry is excellent on the right condition.  If i had to choose between the too for lighter conditions, I would def. go with the mercury.

What's Ur revrate, speed and so on?

I had one, liked it very much.. Great for control on short.. Took it to 2000 Abralon.. Drilled Pin Down, 4' from Pap, PSA @ 45 degrees.. Very smooth once i altered the surface.. Excellent hit..

BrunsNick had one too.. Looked decent in his hands too..

On edit..: Much, MUCH, weaker than a Power Groove..

Apparently we have some really dry shots here . . I could play a Power Groove from inside 3rd arrow, and the Red Pin does go pretty long and snap pretty hard.  Good for spotty shots and short patterns.  You can throw it pretty hard and the thing always reacts.  It's a nice option on drier lanes when you need control . . which sounds like something you need.  It hooks less than a Venus, definitely.  Less than a Power Groove, but more than a Power Groove Dry/R.

I can't get to technical with it but I throw it 15.5  mph on a normal day with a medium about of revs... I'm a standard tweener.

It should do what I need it to do from what you guys say. Thanks guys. So I should drill it pin under ring and then alter the surface to what I want right?
