Proactive Power Groove... need some help please ???
« on: November 21, 2004, 07:10:24 AM »
First.. I'm trying to figure out what would be the best way.. or what does Brunswick suggest on the proper way to get the oil out of this ball w/out doing any harm to it... Heard of baking , soaking , PLEASE.. need some ideas..

Next... When I got this ball... It was drilled like this... better if I make picture then try to explain... My question is .. how is this drilled ??
AGRESSIVE..WEAK...  not sure as to how to explain..

*  <<< will represent pin

        *
         o o
pin is 2 1/2 " from center of ring finger to center of pin
          0

just trying to figure out how/or for what conditions it was drilled for..
any ideas welcome...

Thought so.  If you are a high track player(oil rings near fingers and thumb) this drilling should be your standard skid/flip.

Sorry dude, I never looked in your profile.

THANKS Andy... well the track marks are about 4" s or so from my thumb..

I'm trying to figure out if I should change it or not....
I first got the ball.. I was standing on 2nd dot.. rolling over 2nd arrow
went and purchased a Mongoose lifter wrist support
since then depending on lanes...
Middle dot,rolling over 2nd arrow
today I was 1 1/2 dots right off middle rolling over 2nd arrow...
is this due to dryer lane conditions or just the opposite ?
sorry.. I'm not up with all this tech stuff yet.. never knew it was so involved. LOL..

thanks Drrev.. I'm learning more of it since being on here...
not really any problems per say.. was just wondering about my ball set-up as far as how it was drilled... My biggest question is what would be the best way of getting oil out of it... Read about baking/soaking.. Whats Brunswick recommended way without damaging my ball ?  Thats my biggest concern..
I wipe it off after every shot.. and clean it with Liquid Nitro when I'm done..
LOL.. I am trying to post my questions so as you guys can understand what the heck I'm asking...

You really don't have to worry too much about oil absorbtion with this particular ball.  It is a "weaker" reactive resin which absorbs less oil than high load particles(goliath) and stronger resins(inferno line).

I personally soak my balls in a large bucket with hot water but nothing near scolding.  I generally use water that I can put and keep my hand in.  The ball sits in the bucket for 15 minutes in, 15 out.  I put in fresh water and do it again.  I haven't had any problems up to this point.  I don't cover the finger/thumb holes, others do, whatever your preference is.  Just let the ball dry completely before use.

agroves/Andrew,

Redneck's subject is the "Proactive P.G.", not the pearl resin. I suppose it could be the Plum Pearl proactive, but it could also be the black solid dull (400 grit) particle. The black should absorb oil like a freakng sponge absorbs water!

Redneck, which "proactive" PG do you have?
agroves describes part of the water & dishsoap method. Many pro shops also have oil extraction machines. Ask around your local centers and see if any local pro shops have one. It should be $20 - 25. Some pro shops have the Ebonite "Hook Again" set-up which might also work.

Duh, disregard what I said about this ball being a weaker resin.

That drilling is basically a skid/snap drilling, to get the ball down the lane with a strong backend reaction. As for soaking it, just put it in hot water (sink, bucket, bath tub) with some dish soap, just as long as the water is not too hot for you hand, its ok for the ball. I leave mine in for half an hour, take it out, wipe it down with a towel and simple green (or any house hold cleaner) and put new, hot water back in the tub, and do another half an hour, and clean it again, then let it dry.
