« on: November 21, 2004, 07:10:24 AM »
First.. I'm trying to figure out what would be the best way.. or what does Brunswick suggest on the proper way to get the oil out of this ball w/out doing any harm to it... Heard of baking , soaking , PLEASE.. need some ideas..

Next... When I got this ball... It was drilled like this... better if I make picture then try to explain... My question is .. how is this drilled ??
AGRESSIVE..WEAK...  not sure as to how to explain..

just trying to figure out how/or for what conditions it was drilled for..

Redneck,

Ok, the guys have given you plenty of advice on how to do some oil extraction. I strongly urge you, given this ball's VERY rough surface, to buy several micro-fiber towels to wipe off your ball after every toss. By the way, unless you need that strong surface because you throw less revs OR you face a lot of oil, I'd suggest you could make it more controllable (hook a little less) by adding as slight polish to it.

Micro-fiber towels are available all over the place: Costco, BJs, Home Depot, K-mart, Wal-Mart. They should be farily cheap, like $1.00 each in bundles of 5 to 20. Make sure you get the ones that are labeled, 70% polyester, 30% polyamide. They absorb great. The ones that are labelled 100% polyester are great for cleaning but do not absorb anything. Wash them with plain laundry soap; do not use fabric softeners or anti-static stuff like Bounce.

Thanks Charlest.. I was thinking of given it a light polish... If I put it in one of the polishing machines at the lowest setting {lightest setting} time wise spent in the polisher, would that be plenty to take some of the hook out?  Bowled Sunday.. was standing on 23 rolling to 9-10 to get it to the hole.. I was actually doing ok with that.. hit a tone when it was on... did well for me that is.. 181-172-179... just was missing some spares.. Like I said.. was thinking of taming it down some..

THANKS for you advice.. I will get some of those cloths tho.. been wiping it down, but just with regular towel...

I recommend you DO NOT USE the ball polishing machine at the local alleys.  You're never really sure what is in them.  Wax or polishing compound.

Buy a small bottle of polish and apply it yourself.  No sense taking a chance of ruining the ball.
