pk 17 vs pk 18

Ok this is really lame what is the stronger of the 2 coverstocks pk 17 or pk 18?

PK 18 can handle more oil but not a lot more, but it is also more skid/flippy than PK 17.

The good part is that both are very reflective of the power, weakness, the very nature of the core with which they are used.

PK 18 is stronger or more aggressive.  PK 17 is harder and generally goes longer than PK18 balls.  They usually use PK17 on weaker balls or lower end balls.  One of the more tech guru's may can give you actual differences.

wow I'm suprised to hear that you think pk 17 is less snappy. To me its more like a pearl reaction than a solid. PK18 seems to pick up quicker thats for sure, I think PK17 is longer and a more PRONOUNCED move, not stronger but a more obvious change.  PK18 is to me the best cover ever made far and away, but PK17 isn't bad stuff either. Just my .02

I thought PK17 was earlier rolling than the PK18, but the 18 had more overall hook due to its more pronounced midlane and backend hook.  I could be wrong.

WHat ball(s) are you referencing for this comparison?
I hope you're not using the Power Grooves as a basis for the PK 17 cover because they have hugely high RGs, in the 2.7 range, while currently most balls using the PK 18 cover have significantly lower RGs, in the 2.50 - 2.55 range.
Plus we have seen a PK 17 solid cover from Brunswick in a long time, until the recently released Power Groove Teal/Purple and it still has a VERY high RG of 2.7.

Stronger where stronger how?  The worst statement I always hear is I want a ball that hooks alot.  Ok where do you want the ball to hook alot, at your feet, in the midlane or in the backend.  Now with this I say how is PK17 stronger?  In the backend maybe because it is harder and does go longer therefore storing more energy and hooking more on the backend.  Is PK18 stronger in the midlane yes is is softer and more grabby therefore losing energy sooner.  I still think overall boards is going to have to go to PK18 though.  They are both great and both durable.  Also find it hard to beleive it is there strongest cover being that they have had PK from 14 to 22 and I am not sure anyone knows all the strengths of each one.  I would also argue that the golden nugget although strong (PK17 pearlized with particle)  it is still not as strong in anyway compared to my Black Cherry (solid PK18) or even my Cherry Bomb Pearl (PK18 pearlized).

I still thought it was backwards from that.  PK 17 was an earlier reading cover, and PK 18 was harder on the backend.  I keep seeing it posted differently....so am I wrong here, or what?  The old sapphire zone (PK17) was an earlier revving ball than the later danger zone (PK 18), but the DZ caught up and passed the sapphire through the midlane and backend transition, or atleast thats how it was explained to me.
