Punisher- Rampage question
« on: September 14, 2005, 01:33:21 PM »
First off, which one rolls earlier with the same drill?  Second, would they overlap too much if I got both of them?  We are going to order through college soon, and I am for sure gettin the rampage and probably another zone classic, and I'm thinking about a punisher because I'm really impressed with it.

I'm not sure about the punish, but the rampage deffinatly does not roll early at all from my experiences.

I can't really speak to the first question, since my Rampage is drilled 2E and my Punisher is 4L.  However, *with those layouts,* both balls appear to break at about the same point on the conditions where I've thrown both side-by-side.  The difference, though, is that the Rampage is much sharper at the break, and much stronger in the back end.

What I've found is that the Rampage and Punisher give me two different options for looks on medium to medium-dry conditions.  When I need to play more direct, or there's still enough of an oil line for me to bump, the Punisher is the ball of choice.  When I need to get my feet to the left, or I'm on a condition where I need the ball to recover well, I'll go to the Rampage.

Hope this helps.

The Rampage is meant to, and does, handle more oil than the Punisher.  Both balls utilize the same weightblock.  The Rampage sports a pearl powerkoil 18 cover, while the Punisher uses a form of the N`Control coverstock.  If any of you have ever rolled a Black Ice Danger Zone (PK 18 Pearl), and also rolled a Purple Pearl Command Zone (N`Control), then you would know the differences in these two covers.  The N`Control on the Punisher is meant to react less in the oil while providing a strong but controllable reaction off the dry.  The PK18 is what it always has been, stronger in the oil and strong off the dry.  By that logic (and because i've thrown both balls, drilled the same), I would venture to say that the Rampage is 4-6 boards stronger than the Punisher, with that number varying slightly depending on your release strength and ball roll.  Hope this helps.
