Title: quality issues
Post by: anything on March 26, 2009, 04:49:35 AM
i dunno if its just me, but the quality of brunswick balls seems to have dipped or the QC dept isnt working. i was using brunswick and then switch to storm and columbia, but recently came back to brunswick cos one of the balls looked promising. the first ball i got had coverstock problems due to manufacturing. asked for a replacement and got 1. now, the ball has got printing problems!?! the logo was misprinted!! gosh. just got it drilled but yet to thrown it yet. let just hope its only the appearance and nothing wrong with the cores or cg watsoever. dunno if i'm ever gg back to big B again. anyone of u with logo printing errors?? LOLS.

Anything, Bowler25 says that because when he ordered it for me it came from the distributor as "BRUNSWICK BLEMS" After asking folks on here, a couple of the knowledgeable regulars said to try it. I got a great price on the ball being a blem. The blem turned out to be a short pin (about and inch and slight surface  issues around the pin and MB  which were later resurfaced off). To be honest I think my average the second half of the year (Got TFD blem in November) is up about 10pins with this ball. I hope you didn't get taken advantage of buy the ball seller. Because Brunswick doesn't mark them X-outs or blems some dishonest folks might try to take advantage of their customers, but I really think the blems aren't so bad.

Okay, here we go.

There were some significant quality issues with the start up of the plant in Mexico.

Now, there are fewer and fewer qc issues as every day passes. Why? Because the employee's in Mexico are becoming more & more familiar with what is acceptable and what is not.

Anything, you never mentioned what Brunswick balls you have/had qc issues with. And your posts are EXTREMELY difficult to read. please use the "check spelling" button from now on.

They used to print a small "s" in their "B" logo to represent a second/blem or at least they did with some Scorchin Infernos I punched.  Is this no longer the standard procedure for them?  Just trying to keep up, thanks.

I never saw a blem by Brunswick till the Scorchin inferno. Or at least they were impossible to find. Now they are everywhere.

I have had some problems with many first quality mismarking the cg or marking several cgs or none at all. I've talked with others who have had the same problems. Other then that they still preform great.

Maxxx Zone, Rattler, Swarm, Groove Urethane. Only a real problem with the Wild Ride. Tried surface changes and never saw any reaction out of it. Might make a great spare ball ....

i've still got a new wild ride in the box. i won't drill it until late in the summer. no quality control problems with this ball. great looking pearl coverstock. pin, cg, and psa all easily identifiable. all logos look like they should.

Wild Ride, no issues.

Smash Zone, no issues.

Avalanche Slide, no issues.

When someone is trying to find something wrong, they usually do.

a senior player on my wednesday night team recently drilled a wild ride......no quality control issues with this ball. the pro shop i bowl my other league at has half a dozen different brunswick balls in the window. i looked every one of them over closely....no quality control problems. i think a lot of this "problem" is really hatred/disgust/etc. that brunswick moved production to mexico.

i don't hear diehard dexter or linds wearers complain about production being moved overseas. two guys in my wednesday night league throw brand new columbia 300 white dots. when i told them that the balls were made in china now they're answer was, "who cares ?".

Some balls, due to their color, the CG is hard to find.  Especially when it's just a micro-indentation on the ball.

anything,

To put it bluntly, there were widespread problems with the quality and workmanship of the Brunswick Product since the move to Mexico.  In seminars that I have attended, the Product Reps were asked the same questions that you ask.  There were issues in place while in Michigan that made the move to Mexico NECESSARY.  If this move did not take place, Brunswick would not be making any balls.   With the proper education and training, quality and workmanship has greatly improved and will only get better.

By the way, my Twisted Fury pearl has given me my highest series ever and just shot 290 with my Smash Zone 2 wks ago.. No quality issues here..
