Wild Ride vs Twisted Fury Pearl
« on: April 06, 2009, 09:42:22 PM »
I wonder what the WR offers vs the TFP.
I have the TFP and due to my medium-low ball speed and the oil patterns I see, the Rough Buff cover and the drilling I have, the TFP is about the maximum ball I can use when there's good oil provided. I tried polishing the RB cover, but I like it better with the original RB finish.

If the WR requires more oil or hooks more, on average, then it does me no real good.

I also have an Ultra Zone. The TFP is 16 lbs and the UZ is 15. So I can throw the UZ harder. Have to compare them one day. Can throw the UZ thru the breakpoint; can't do that with the TFP.

Thanks.

charlest,

Having thrown all of the balls you have talked about, the Wild Ride will in fact will move more aggressively from the breakpoint. My experience with this ball gives me the chance to play in the oil long as the back ends are fresh.

Since you like the Twisted Pearl, you should consider either a Smash Zone or Rattler.  The Smash Zone is a symetrical core with pearl version of EnMotion coverstock that gives a movement similiar to the Twisted.  The Rattler is also a symetrical core with a pearl version of Activator coverstock made famous with the Inferno series.  Ball motion is similiar to Twisted but will arc from the breakpoint.

Dont even think about the Ultra Zone.

Jeff,

Much will depend on the conditions you regularly see, but for most the Wild Ride will read earlier and be stronger at the breakpoint. That's assuming you leave it at the factory surface.

Once you adjust the cover to around 2000 abralon it just makes the ball better. It still reads earlier than the Twisted Pearl, however, the ball becomes much better late because it's so much more predictable. For me, at 2000 the Wild Ride rolls more like a solid, but hits like a pearl. VERY, VERY FORGIVING ball. I hope this helps.

Thanks, Lane & Roger. That does help.
As I said, the 16 lb TFP handles all the oil I get to see, for the time being. Right below it is the Bruiser, one matte 16 lb, one polished 15 lb, and the 15 lb UZ, with a couple of Fury Pearl Touring Editions, waiting to be drilled.

The Wild Ride sounds like more ball than I'll need any time in the near future.

Roger, Thanks for the SZ and Rattler suggestions, but as you can see, I have less oils covered for the most part.
