Title: Quantum Elite
Post by: shimozukawa on December 28, 2005, 04:43:50 AM
Hi folks,

I posited the following question to one of our fellow BR members, and he told me I should ask the group since he hasn't seen the ball thrown by anyone with a higher rev-rate.

Last time I bowled (ummm about a year ago, literally), my rev-rate was around 475-525 rpm and my velocity around 19.5-20 mph. I call my release a spinner, but I don't know if that's really what it is.

The Elite perplexes me. I requested a high TW to get the ball to clear the heads easier. However, if the ball is "rolly", then I might just drill it 4.25x4 or 6x4 (my axis is 4-11/16x5/16 up). I figure that should give me a read similar to my Eliminator, but on a much drier shot. Does that sound about right (in terms of similar "look").

Any comments are appreciated.

Thanks.

the Elite has PowerKoil 14 coverstock.
very weak cover, and it bleeds resin.

i would think this ball would be best suited as a spare/dry lane ball.

it will react closely to the Lane #1 XXXL.

i have a Quantum Elite Limited Edition stashed away in my closet.
definately a gem, 2 piece spare balls are deadly when needed.

Have you thrown either the Elite or the XXXL? I am thinking the answer is no since neither of those are listed as drilled in your arsenal.

Oh well, I guess no one has really tried it. 8^(

Well, megamav *has* a quantum elite.  So do I.  But neither of us have drilled them.  I suppose I'm waiting for a rainy day, I'd suspect the same for him.    But his description is accurate.

no i havent seen it in action.

great short pattern ball.
PowerKoil 14 ownz dry lanes.

Thanks everyone... I think I have a better idea of what to do with the ball now... one last question:

Will it hook less than plastic (over the long run) based upon plastic tracking in hard on old wood (aka lanes in Asia)?

At least for me the quantum elite is not a dry lane ball. I have bowled with it on a 32 foot flat  light oil pattern on brunswick anvilane and cant keep it on the right side of the head pin. I have above average hand and medium ball speed  . . Mine is drilled label leverage .  I have thrown the lane 1 xxxl and the  quantum elite will outhook it by 15 boards + at the breakpoint for sure,   its not even close to plastic.

Anything will hook on 32 feet flat.  You have 28 feet of backend.
