Question About Getting Oil Out of My Master Zone

OK, I am confused and don't want to screw up my ball.  I saw in other boards about bathing balls and using a hair dryer and a box to get oil out of a ball.  I am having great success with my Master Zone, but want to get the oil out of it.  Can I use either of these methods, and would you reccomend it?  Thanks for your help.

Although he's had success with the hair dryer, I'm not a fan of direct heat in one spot.  The rejuvenator type machines keep the ball rotating so the ball is heated more evenly.  I've only had so-so success with the water bath.  For me, the best method is the dishwasher.  Use the longest setting (pots/pans), throw in some detergent, TURN OFF THE AIR/HEAT DRYING CYCLE, set it and forget it.  I don't cover the holes or do anything special.

Hot bath, rejuvenator or the sauna method all works. its only what you prefere.

i might try this today after work...do you just use plain detergent...i think all i have is those little cascade/dawn packets.....

and rinse aid or no?

I would avoid a rinse aid since I don't know what it would do to a bowling ball.  I just used regular Cascade dishwasher detergent.  Again, turn OFF the drying cycle.

dishwasher does not have a way to shut off the drying cycle...so...i will just sit here and watch...till it gets there and then pull it out

i sanded it down to 320 before i put it in...so it'll go back up to 800, 1000, 1500, and then 2000...there's no way to get the rinse aid out once i put it in..but it's been in for two weeks so maybe it's low....hopefully whatever residue it leaves will come off with the sanding back up process...and polishing

did it last night....came out feeling very very very dry.

sanded her back up and polished it...hopefully hit the lanes tomorrow night and see how it goes.

Used the hair dryer last night and did it work?  I think so. I will see how good tonight when I hit the lanes.  I did notice the oil coming out, and since I have not cleaned it since I started using it in february, I saw a large amount of oil.  Thanks for the tips.

This works for me the best every time. You need to do it about 2 or 3 times in a row though. Get regular tap water running as hot as possible, once it's completly hot let the sink fill up then put the ball in the sink. Get an old rag, cut it up to plug the thumb hole and finger holes. Let the ball soak and ocassionally wipe it with a towel while it's in the water. Then just repeat this at least 2 times. Then let it air dry until the ball is completly dry, then you're finished.

Tghe Master Zone uses the same cover as the Punisher and Sahara, and I found this material to be quite absorption-happy for a light oil cover stock. I put my Sahara frequently into the warm water bucket - before I even recognize a loss in reaction. I neglected this in the beginning and was shocked how much oil the ball "sweated" in its first treatment. But 30 min. in the bucket, and the ball is as good as new.
