Question for BrunsNick or BrunsRic
« on: September 11, 2005, 12:32:11 AM »
You probably havent EVER thrown the Ebonite Crossfire. BUT I am playing on a 3rd squad league, no oil in between. I use my crossfire in the first league and average over 200. In the 3rd league its too much ball for the condition. Do you think the Power Groove Pro Black would be good on this burnt condition?

(And you're right, we've never thrown that clunker)

Remember that the Black Power Groove is a particle ball.  It is a very good ball, but its not meant for real dry conditions.  On burnt conditions the PG-Proactive will probably hook far to early to be useful.  The PG Dry/R is meant for burnt-out conditions and will work much better than the black one.

Here is what I see Ric. I can play from behind the ball, or I can crank it. They Oil from the 6 pin to the gutter. If I throw up that oil the ball goes high. If I push left and play onto the oil it goes high. I tried multiple things to get this ball into the pocket. I did get it in a few times but not as much as I would like to. I need something that wont react as much. It is mainly in the backend that it is too strong.

I am trying this new thing this season. Where I wont play Past 20. So I am standing at about 15 Throwing up 1-5. In the 3rd squad this doesnt work. I need something I can do this with. I moved all over yesterday, and I wasnt able to find a spot.

There's your problem.
Sometimes you CAN'T play the part of the lane you want to use - no matter how much you move your feet!!!

I have bowled several tournaments with bowlers who WON'T move past a certain point inside. They ASSUME that if they move their feet enough, they can get the ball to the pocket. What they fail to realize is that the part of the lane they're insisting on using IS TOTALLY OIL FREE. DRY. TOAST. SAHARA DESERT. At this point, NOTHING they can use will keep them off the nose - even plastic spare balls can hook too much at this point.
You GOTTA sometimes move inside to where the oil is. 3rd shift would do it for me.

Leaving corner pins beats 5, 6, & 7 counts all day long. It is usually best to chase the oil line as the lanes deteriorate. If you insist on staying further right, even when the lanes say different, you should try the Power Groove Dry/R.
As I usually state, you're always better off getting advise from either the pro shop guy or one of the better bowlers in the center you bowl in. They will know the lanes and also be able to see what style of player you are.

Strike-Monster,
Seems to me that you don't really want to hear what anyone has taken the time to say.
If you truly were looking for ideas to make your game better, instead of taking our time to validate your erroneous conclusion, you would be somewhat responsive instead of putting down every comment the experts have made.

In addition - a profile detailing your speed, revs, etc would also be helpful.

Trust me I listened. I went out and got a Dry/R off my driller. We have the exact same span. The only difference is thumb pitch..that is easily changed. I also have a between Medium-Fast Speed, Medium-High Revs

You know, by 3rd shift, I would be in front of the ball return. If you want to learn to hit the condition, and not rely on equipment, learn to move your feet further right than 25.
