Question for Brunswick Xhole Gurus
« on: December 13, 2006, 02:06:59 AM »
I asked on this forum for a good dry lane layout for a PG or PG Dry/R and got several suggestions to use a pin on PAP layout, which is one that I've tried before without much luck (possibly because my local driller is inept at finding the exact location of my PAP).

Then it occurred to me after watching Nick's variable X-hole video, that I might be able to create the same effect as pin on PAP (a stable 0 to low flare roll) by drilling the ball with my favorite pin position (5 to 5-1/2, puts the pin right near my mid-line above or below fingers)  and using a 2-1/4 in or 2-1/4 up X-hole.

Thus creating the same stable 0 or super low flare roll as pin on PAP, but leaving me with the flexibility of moving my X-hole should my PAP again be miscalculated or the roll pattern simply not matching up to my game.  Whereas pin on PAP effectively pigeonholes me into sticking with the layout or complete plugging and re-drilling the ball.

Correct, you can "de-tune" a ball with a stronger layout with a flare reducing and make it more end over end like a Pin on PAP layout.

It gives you a little more versatility with tuning the ball after it has been drilled.
