What's the best Bruns ball for Rico drill?
« on: January 07, 2008, 12:39:17 AM »
Generally what's the best Brunswick ball, past or present, to put a Rico drill on? How many people here have a ball with a Rico and what do you think of it? I've got a Smokin, Original Inferno, Punisher, Fury, Zone Classic, Total Shock and Awe, and a Fired Up all plugged and looking for a drill. I may do 2 balls with the Rico so suggest away.

I've only drilled an Absolute Inferno with the "Rico" and it was good that way.

TheDective- I wonder if a ball could be designed specifically to drill Rico? As this seems to be a drill that only the vertical part of the pap comes into play. Would a manufacturer design it any different knowing how the ball was going to be drilled?

Looks like the Original Inferno gets the nod. Time to get drilling.

I just posted under a previous Rico question. I drilled a PBA Inferno Rico.
Although it was the first night that I rolled it, it was absolutely AWESOME
BABY. I shot 202-253-258=713. These are the only games I have on the ball. With two jobs I don't have time to practice.
I agree with RIC, go with the original Inferno. Then play with surface changes. I have also Rico'd a Big Shot which has given me a little more angular back end on this control drilling. My PBA seems to be more effective going straighter with very little swing. The Big Shot gives me a little more swing area. Whatever you do you should like this drilling.

The Zone Classic is a monster with that drill.

Easy guys, I'll drill up the Classic too. Then I'll have two rico's I can compare against each other. Thanks for the input everybody. I'll post results after tryouts.

Brunsnick told me at one time that the Punisher is a beast with a RICO drilling.  Great ball with a normal drilling, and I can just imagine what that ball would be like if it was a little rollier.

Saying the Zone Classic is almost not fair.  I have had 5 Zone Classics all drilled different.  They were all awesome and different from each other.  Rico with this ball was very nice.  Sweet off the edge on a slickish Cheetah pattern.  Love that ball.

Is it the ball?  Is it the layout?

Original Inferno is probably a BEAST with Rico, hmmmm....

Haven't drilled the OI or the Classic with Rico yet but did drill the Punisher Rico to use on Tuesdays league. Took the surface down to 220 and brought it back up to 2000k. I couldn't get the ball to move very much during practice. Tonight the lanes are bone dry on the outside, I'll see what it does there.

I also have to vote for the original inferno.  I've got one that was supposed to be pure "RICO", but ended up with the pin 1/2 inch above midline.

Ball is very predictable.  Only ball I have shot 800 with.  Plugged the fingers to change the grip and shop screwed up the re-drill.  They said they would fix it for free, I just never have.
