Quick success with Versa Max
« on: February 08, 2012, 01:19:55 AM »
Drilled the Versa Max on Monday. Threw it in league that night, 268, 268, 237 for 773. Last night in league at a different center 257, 267, 247 for 771. This ball really is something that Brunswick has not had before. This ball has a great chance to become my favorite ball. Once I get a few more games on it and get a chance to compare to other balls I will do a formal review. This is drilled 30x5x75 with a hole on my PAP.

Nice shooting Adam!!! I'm glad you decided on the pin down drilling cause I got mine yesterday and was planning on drilling it pin down!! Pin down is my favorite and after seeing Chris L use his at the Masters with a pin down drilling, I wanted to go pin down!! I have my Ulti-Max pin up above my middle finger and really like it, but wish I had drilled it pin down!! Keep us posted on how you're doing with this! I was thinking of drilling the Nexxus/Double X with a pin down, but didn't know if it would be too strong for that!!

Great job, Adam. I wish mine would arrive, but in the interim I have plenty of good choices...

I'm sorry but how many times do we have to hear this.  And its not just Brunswick.  It's everytime a new ball comes out.  I know I know, you have to hype up the new releases as a staffer.

Nice bowling Adam. I am awaiting the arrival of this ball!  Did you leave the ball in box condition?  Keep those high scores coming.

I agree, and when something replaces the Versa-Max, then AND only then will we hear the drawbacks of the Versa-Max. And how whatever replaces that is so innovative etc. I get it though, marketing at its finest.

Stroke, I see what you are saying and understand what you mean. I have been on staff for 5 years now and used Brunswick exclusively for a few years prior to that as well. This reall is something that Brunswick has never offered prior. It is a different type of motion. The ball is very clean in the fronts and is very controllabe motion down lane and very predictable. Goes through the pins very well.

Thats encouraging to hear, for years their stuff really labored left of 3rd arrow unless you were Sean Rash. Good to hear they are futher removed from that type of look.

there wasn't anything terribly wrong with the 4.5, it was an excellent spare ball and was a good strike ball when the lanes were toasted. It acted identical to the Track 607A SE when drilled the same.

but in comparing the 4.5 with the description of the Versa Max this new piece will be a tad longer and hook slightly less. . .almost like a 4.5.

I hope to see one in action so to get a better idea of what it will really do.

Seriously looking at the Versa Max as a benchmark ball. Don't know why so many didn't like the 4.5. I liked that ball. Well the first one I had liked till it was stolen.

Bowling is like life. Sometimes you are the ball. Other times you are the pins.
