Title: Radical even good?

I been debatin on buyin a RI. I been to this forum every other day to find out what yall think bout it. I havent seen much on it on this forum. Enlighten me!

I'm in the same boat as you Reset. I'm interested in buying the Radical too. I've seen it thrown and I wasn't impressed with it, but the guys throwing it where not very good bowlers. It didn't finish too well and left alot of washouts. I'm looking for something that will rev up in the mids. Something with a symmetrical core. The core on Brunswick's site looks symmetrical but does not state that it is.
Anyone else?

i will say a ball might leave corners that you cant ajust out of(they keep comin) but a bowler leaves washouts........

That's exactly what I meant. I really couldn't judge the ball fairly because of the people throwing it. But it also wasn't recovering from their misses.

If they're missing that much, DON'T BLAME THE BALL. It can only recover so much.

I believe the RI is a slight step up in strength from the SI.  It will cover more boards in heavier oil (than the SI) as well as cover more boards on the back.  Mine is drilled pin under middle finger (RH) which gives me a 5 1/2" x 4 1/2" drilling.  I drilled this specifically for shorter patterns to play out with as well as lighter, longer patterns with strong backends to smooth out the turn.  The drilling allows me to send the ball to my desired breakpoint with almost zero midlane and trust that it will make a strong corner.

I settled on 1200 abralon w/ Polish on top of that.  I tried it at 1000 grit abralon as per Brunswick's instruction leaflet, but that defeated the purpose of the ball for me.  At 1000 it gave me all the midlane I needed as well as a very good punch on the backend.  More so than would be expected with a sanded pearl.  I believe the Octane coverstock is legit, and am looking forward to seeing it in solid, and particle pearl iterations as well as wrapped around a Zone ore for some serious backend.

I got mine today, drilled 2L. When I tried out the ball, the lanes are rather dry and in the 4 games I bowled, none are under 200 and I am only a 170 ave bowler. But new ball tends to give you good scores, just like my The One...which will be retired soon...Hope that this Radical can give me one good season of bowling...

Well this ball isn't a ball you can use on oil and expect it to hook for days.  It is a medium-to medium light ball for sure.  It will get very good length, but don't expect it to recover from 10 boards missed, unless you're on a really standard house shot.

For a player like me this ball is great.  I have issues with a lot of todays new equipment checking up too early on me, but this one has good length, like a pearlized ball should.

In the games I have thrown mine (one fresh shot, one shot with no oil) it showed me it does need some oil in the heads to get going, which somewhat suprised me.  On the shot with no oil, it didn't want to do much at all...and when it did..it would then roll out very quickly.  Just to let you know how dry it was, my friend was throwing an old Urethane Rhino T2 and hooking it about 15 boards and he has no hand at all.  His ball was starting its hook as soon as it hit the lanes.

On the fresh shot it reved very nicely and made a nice continuous arc to the pocket.  If this was the shot I was seeing in league, this ball would be in the bag as it didn't quite make it back all the time, and when I moved in a bit with my mark, it would come in high.  

I will be throwing it tonight in my league for the first night to see what it does on a typical THS that's fresh.  I will be able to post more later.

I think the reason some people might not be so pumped about this ball is that it's not a hook in a box.  If you have issues getting the ball down the lane or need something for a medium-medium light shot, this could be a good ball for you, but if you're looking for something to hook a lot and recover when you make really bad mistakes.....look towards the Red Zone.
