Radical Inferno Expectations????
« on: October 26, 2006, 01:49:17 PM »
I'm getting a Radical Inferno on a trade with a Rico drilling on it. I'm wanting some input on how this ball's reaction will be. I'm a stroker, with medium revs and above average speed.

I bowl mostly on a THS, and a second shift shot. Any input would be great!

uhmm sad to say this, i bought a radical for a friend, he got it drilled pretty strong, i think pin below and a increasing flare xhole

he uses the radical for spare ball unless we are bowling on very dry lanes...

edit: forgot something, he took the shine out of the ball and still not big change

I go two-handed, and i hate stupid 10pins! cuz my 12lb spare ball hooks too much!

i had one..with the pin to the left of the ring finger and the cg stacked below it with a small xhole too..it just went long.

Now if I had to vote for the best ball that went long and didn't do much else..this ball wins hands down.

Possibly didn't match up to my game, or the layout was wrong, or even the medium oil house condition I used it on wasn't the right condition, but overall in my hands this ball pretty much stunk.

Best of luck to you and your Radical Inferno endeavors

????WOW!

Is this ball a flop? If it goes so long, is it bout like a Smokin' or Blazing? It's got a 100 length rating, and Big B really hypes up the Octane cover on it. I'll give it alot of test runs, but most likely wouldn't plug it up.

I see alot of people have taken it to 1000-2000 abralon. That will be the second step I'll try I guess after the initial test run. Thanks for the comments guys, keep 'em comin'!

How come the Bruns site doesn't show any drillngs for this ball? What good is a ball that has horrible results, even with the strongest drilling on it?

There must be a secret somewhere. I can't imagine so many bad results, on a "newer" ball.

I think people with a huge amount of revs might like it due to the fact that it does go long, but I bowl in the Greater Detroit area with all the big shots and guess how many people use one....0....that right there is enough for me to answer that question.  Even the Brunswick Staffers leave it in their bags...and the Octane is nothing special...just another over hyped cover stock...

As silly as this might sound...I refuse to throw Brunswick after this and the fact they moved to Mexico...and I don't care what the staffers have to say, about how this and that is made overseas...but..I won't support a bowling ball company like that.....personal preference.

On edit...if this ball was amazing I would say so regardless of where it was made, so I don't want you to think I'm only saying it's nothing special because of the move.  For how it was advertised as LONG with an EXPLOSIVE backend..not even close..they got the first part right....LONG

I have drilled out a few Radical's for customers and they have had no problems with the ball.  The ball goes as long as the Smokin, but has s stronger backend.  Remember, you need dry backends to make these balls work.  If you use any ball on the wrong condition, you will have problems.  I also drilled mine with the pin above the fingers.  It performs as advertised, goes long with a strong backend.  But beware, if this ball even smells oil, it will go too long.

Thanks guys! My Smokin' was pin above and right of ring, cg stacked with a weight hole. That ball has some SICK backend reaction. I've missed since it left my hands.

If this ball gets a similar reaction, I'll be happy with that. I was thinking about this ball being a second shift/ broken down ball, so that may ring in as true. Now I can't wait for it to get here!

Only advice I can give you is don't be afraid to mess with the surface, the ball response very well to different surface preps.

I had one with the pin under ringer finger drilled stacked with a 1" pin.  I compare it to my Equation.  They both have the same length, but my Equation out backends the Rad by at least 5-10 boards.  I never played around with the cover, but the way I had it, I wasn't very impressed.

I'd also suggest a more aggressive drilling. I guess that the ball will not move much at all. OOB, the RI is quite oil sensitive, and with a controlled RICO drill reaction, I think that the ball will be only suited for lighter conditions, maybe only for some down-and-in strategies?

All just a personal preference...obviously the Wick puts out some good equipment, or people wouldn't use them.  I'll stick with another company.
