I never used it in box finish. I brought it up to 2000 with rough buff before we drilled it. The reaction is very similar to the Original Inferno. Very clean through the mids with a strong turn to the pocket. The ball responds to different hand positions quite well and I've been able to use it on all but extremely long lane patterns.I've been using the ball at the start to read the lane pattern and in most cases don't need to change balls.

Mine is drilled with the pin above ring 1" with cg directly below.Weight hole to get legal not for flair. This is a drill I use when I intend to use the ball primarily on outside lines.

This ball is made in Mexico so it must be a recent pour.

I have a couple drilled and an extra one on the way. I laid one out with my favorite - pin over ring (about 5-1/2 from axis - CG about +3/4 (no matter anyway) - no X-hole. I threw it in box finish and it was actually a bit stronger thany my Solid Fury (4000 Abralon though). In box finish it was  an excellent choice on a fresh Scorpion shot on Pro-Anvilane although if money was on the line I think I liked the Fury better. Good consistent read and excellent carry though. I took it to 2000 Abralon and it was my best look on a fresh house shot - compared to a similarly drilled Fury and Absolute. When the shot started to break down it was a bit weaker in the oil than the others, so that confirms the rumors that it is probably Activator, NOT Activator+. I have another drilled to do nothing (Pin under middle finger and CG kicked way right - almost a RICO drill. This one smoothed to 4000 Abralon. It barely moves on a fresh or any other medium to heavy condition. It would serve very nicely as a dual-purpose spare ball - crappy lane ball since it still has that Inferno HIT even with the tame layout. Anyway, just drill it up like you would any Original Inferno and you'll have a winner.

The Quantum name is still being used overseas, which what this ball is.
