Radical review, house 3
« on: August 02, 2006, 01:49:57 PM »
Finished the circuit of the main houses in the area (one closed last year, the other one's a big time trash heap).  This time it's resurfaced wood, same everything else as the Laneshield house, except this house is drier.  The ball owned this house, period.  This house has a problem with the track burning pretty quickly, and stuff likes to hook early, and then the backend really makes it take off.  The ball cleared the heads easily, and turned nicely on the backend.  Had a little more miss room inside than I normally have there.  This ball seems to like patterns that are a little bit on the drier side out of the box, but has just enough power to muscle through a little bit of oil.  Still hit strongly at this house too.  It's reacted best on this shot so far.  I have league at the Anvilane house tomorrow, so I'll be able to get a better read there.  I'm glad it reacts well at the wood house though, we've got our annual top ten tournament (they take the top ten composite averages in the city for the previous year and have a tournament before the season starts) on Sunday.  It's a house I've had trouble at before, and everyone else has.  It tends to leave some junk like the Laneshield house does, but this house is a lot more cruel with ring 10's.  I kicked out a few 10's, and in 5 games, I only left ONE 10 pin.  The only other ball I've ever had really work halfway decent at this house was my Ambush.  Overall, this is a ball I could use at all 3 houses, with just a few adjustments, and that's something that doesn't usually happen for me or anybody else.  Anvilane usually takes pearl, Laneshield usually takes something aggressive, and this house usually takes a solid, or something that's a little smoother.  My Smokin usually does pretty good at the wood house, but the Radical had a much better look and matches up better.  This really is a great ball . .

thanks for all your updates. I greatly appreciate them, as I've been looking at buying this ball for AMF HPL synthetics, still deciding on it.

Our other house in town that closed last year had AMF HPL . . best surface in town by a long shot.  I LOOOOVED bowling there.  I think this ball would own HPL.  It rolls pretty good on Anvilane, but HPL is a better surface.  As long as the oil isn't too heavy, I think you'd have a great look on it.  HPL really enhances a ball's best qualities, and this one has a lot of them . .

You should come up here and throw some games. That way I can see what I need to try to trade for one.

Is the Smokin' still workin' out?

Oh yeah, my Smokin was the first ball out of my bag for a while (alternated it with a Tsunami over the summer though).  It's still gonna be number 2, and might still be number one for certain houses.  Still love it!  Lol, what'd you end up doing with that Scorchin?

First night with it, came close to shooting 300, then traded it for an H20! My other Scorchin' gives me a better look, so I decided to trade it off. I can't hold on to nothin'!!

I NEED another Scorchin . . there's no way to find that much hook with that much control in any other ball.
