A good and disappointing night
« on: April 06, 2010, 06:11:19 AM »
Well I had a very bitter sweet night in league yesterday. I was throwing my red and silver slingshot which as I posted previously is Rico'd. The night started out on a high note with a 276 (wash out in the 8th frame). Game 2 was just as promising with the front 9 followed by a ringing 10 pin and a horrible 5 count wash out for 274. Way to go on the pin count right? lol Game 3 I shoot a 247. Ouch. For a bitter sweet 797. The ball rolled great! The odd pin counts were total operator error. Anyways those 2 errant shots have been eating me up inside so I just thought I would share that with everybody. Anyone else have any bad shots give em nightmares? lol

I have them all the time... They bother me for about 5 minutes (maybe less).

Gotta' learn to accept that we are still human, and even at our best we'll misfire once in a while. Move on to the next shot or game. See ya' tonight at league.

A couple of years ago I shot a 799.
2nd game, 12th frame, threw a Big 4. Since then I never take that last fill ball for granted.
Didn't get over it until the next season when I bowled a 300 my last game for an 800 series on the head.
Just keep you head up and stay positive.

When I was 16 I shot my first 299 followed by a 200 game and then my first 300. 799, it was a good day but very disappointing.

yeah it happens
a few tournaments ago I shoot 748 or something around there no the first shot in the 10th frame I went a touch high and left a baby split then chopped it and missed being the tournament leader by 8 pins, which would have guaranteed me a spot in the finals,
I still made the cut but got knocked out first round shooting a 226 and the cut to go to the next round was a 228
so yeah those few pins are always the ones that hurt the most

I had similar disappointment as well 4 years ago.  I wasn't keeping track of my scores for the first 2 games nor really worrying what I needed to do the last game to get an 800.  The third game I had the fist 11, and then left a 3-6-10 for a 297 game.  After the scores were added up, I ended up having a 799 series.  So at the time, I got 1 plaque in stead of 2 rings.  That would have been my 2nd 800 series of my career.  Another guy this year in my one league was going for 300 the last game, and tugged the 12th shot for a 298 game.  After they added his scores up, it was a 799 series as well.  Its amazing sometimes how hard it is to get an 800 series.
