Rampage Equivalent
« on: April 30, 2008, 01:17:21 AM »
I have had my BVP Rampage for two years now and i am in the market for a new ball. What bowl does Brunswick put out now that is as close to a Rampage as you can get?

The Rampage is still in production. Why change if that's what you want?

OR...

Be patient and see BrunsRico below.

It would IMHO be a killer combo, and in the BVP line a really great offer. Despite this, Activator pearl has been missing in the line-up for some time, and with a not-so-strong low RG core, this could be the winner of the next season...? Well, let's see

Mr. Hamlin,
The new replacement is creating quite a "buzz" around here. When are you going to spill the beans?

I'd say only slight differences - I'd assume, if you place an Activator Pearl +  Rocket Core ball, polished, side by side with an OI with same drilling etc., the difference will only be small.
I'd expect the OI to go a touch longer and then rev up harder on the back end, making it look a bit more angular. The BVP ball should look a little more "even", in direct comparison, due to the slightly smaller differential and higher RG (still a low RG core) - a tad stronger than a Rampage, falling in-between them.

Just for fun, my idea (OI in brackets, comparison based on the OI Activator "status"

Imaginary "BVP XY"

Coverstock: Activator Pearl Reactive
Color: TBD - how about Yellow/Orange/Gunmetal Pearl?
Hardness: 77-79
Factory Finish: High Gloss Polish

Core Dynamics
RG Max:  2.534"      (2.513")
RG Min:  2.489"      (2.463")
RG Diff: 0.045"      (0.050")
RG Avg: 3.3          (2.6)

Performance
Hook Potential: 110  (115)
Length: 105          (105)
Breakpoint Shape: 80 (80)

Comparison Chart position: ~M 10?

Could become a new benchmark ball in the Brunswick line-up, because it is so "middle of the road" and should be an option for a wide range of users.

Let's hope... (*sigh*)

There's also the name "Copperhead" buzzing around here? Anyone has infos or where to put this rumor? Could it be the Rampage replecement - and after spiders at Hammer we are going to to see snakes from Brunswick? After the Sidewinder, that could make sense, but it is still funny. Reptiles instead of BVPs?

The "Radical Inferno" in my opinion is the closest thing to your Rampage. Both give good length....Radical may have a little more pop on the back.

Guess we will just have to wait and see. The wait will be worth it.
