Rampage Question
« on: August 24, 2005, 07:12:40 AM »
So is this ball too strong for medium-lite oil? I know the Punisher better fits there but this ball looks way nicer lol. Before an argument occurs, I know color has nothing to do with performance but I'm happier when the ball does what it's supposed to while looking good doing it.

judging by your profile this ball may be too much for medium to dry. however, if you like to play the extreme deep inside line....

Problem is I already have a benchmark medium type ball filled and looking to see where this ball would fit in. Anyway, I'm not buying...yet. lol. probably not though

IME, no, not too strong at all.  In fact, I find that the Rampage is much better for playing deeper inside lines and going left-to-right (for righties, that is), while the Punisher prefers more direct lines.

Yes, and I've thrown it side-by-side with the Punisher (and the Nemesis, for that matter).  Based on what I'd seen posted, I expected the Rampage to be stronger, but I've gotta say that Brunswick nailed it when they said it would fit squarely between the Nemesis and Punisher.  The Rampage is a perfect fit for the tournament bag.

However, you know what they say:  Your mileage *may* vary...

Would it help if I said I thought the Rampage was like an original Inferno with about four extra feet of length?

Would it help if I said that the Rampage kicks 10s like there's no tomorrow?

Would it help if I said that the Rampage looks *coooool* going down the lane?

You will own a Rampage soon, young Apprentice.

Just wondering, how was your's drilled, mine is drilled pretty agressive, maybe that is why mine doesn't work for med-light conditions. The rampage does definatly fit between the nemesis and the punisher

Well, the Rampage that I got had a 1 7/8" pin-to-CG distance, so there really wasn't a lot I could do with it given my span and axis coordinates.  So I decided to go with a 2E drilling, and in retrospect, it was probably the best choice.  It's longer than my polished Nemesis with the same drilling, and sharper at the break.  It definitely gives me a look that I don't have with anything else in the bag.

And did I mention how cool it looks going down the lane?

Is it weaker overall than the OI?

Overall, I have the two as hooking just about the same amount on the conditions where I've thrown both balls.  For the sake of reference, the Inferno is drilled 5 x 5, and the Rampage is drilled 2E;  both balls are still in box surface.

What is 2E again?

Pin 4 1/2" from axis, below fingers.

(edited to answer the "2E" question)

how many revs do you haveand ball speed? I can't find it based on your low profile

I honestly have no idea, which is why I haven't put them in the profile.

If I had to guess, I'd probably say that my initial ball speed is somewhere in the 17 MPH range, with a rev rate of about 300-325.  However, I tend to use variations in ball speed and rev rate for adjustment, so who knows?

You guys obvously don't know very much about the topic creator. He uses his Ultimate Inferno on toast lanes. It baffles me to see it get farther down then my BLAZING INFERNO drilled for length. Even then my ball burns up worse then his.

Then maybe *you're* the one who needs the Rampage.

That's what I thought too. On medium-heavy this thing is a monster. On medium it burns up everything hooking like 5 boards most. On lighter stuff this thing skids for like 5 feet and rolls for like 40 feet and has a strong backend! It's confusing the heck out of me. When Loudstriker was using his spareball, I was playing real deep with the UI and it reacted and hit very nicely indeed, much better than that on medium oil.

And Nick, I think it's best to take down the surface of a ball with a spinner just to ensure even and consistent...uh..sandage. lol. I dont know if you can do it by hand, can you?
