I BOWL A STRAIGHT BALL, WHICH BALL SHOULD I GET
« on: June 18, 2008, 03:52:27 AM »
So I joined a summer league in which I get a bag, ball and shoes throughout the 12 weeks of play. I already have all these things and asked if I could just upgrade my ball. Not sure how much the will credit me, but I can pay the difference. What would be a good for a right hand straight ball? It is probably safe to say that I will only be allowed to get a Brunswick product, so keep that in mind with your reply. Thank you in advance for your time.

I would say a Brunswick T-Zone since you throw a straight ball.

I would upgrade to either a Power Groove or Avalanche series ball. As long as you deliver it straight, it will go straight. You will gain hitting power from the more dynamic cores in these balls and get less defelection when your ball hits the pins. Also if you ever want to learn to throw a hook you won't have to buy another ball, just have it redrilled.

If they allow you to get a Power Groove or any reactive like an Avalanche solid, it's big step up, performance wise.

Do you throw it straight because you're throwing a polyester ball, or do you truly roll it end over end?

On edit, bruns4life stole my answer, just types faster. he's correct.

Thank you all. I will be looking into these suggestions.

To answer you question NOTCLAY:
I bowl a straight ball end over end because thats how I learned as a child and never bothered to try a curve. I bowl for fun and am able to keep up my score with my friends who all throw a curve, so I am fine with it.

All things being equal, if the upgrade isn't too expensive, I think I would go with the avalanche pearl.

It is a ball designed with less friction than most reactive balls ( tends to go straighter ), but also has a weightblock that would let it be more stable roll than a power groove.

Pretty good looking ball too, if you like blue/white combo.

BREILLY,

It's my belief that even if you roll it end over end you'll still be happier with a reactive cover ball due to less deflection. Proper fit is a must, too. Good luck.

Get a reactive ball, drill it for a full roller and move to the right.
