Reactive/Particle Sidewinder?

i was reading another post here and saw someone talking about a reactive Sidewinder, as well as a Particle Sidewinder. I was wondering what the difference was because i too have a sidewinder and believe it is the particle? it doesnt really do much on the lanes for me though. just curious about the different coverstocks.

AFAIK, there had been a production batch where the particle additive had been missing, but otherweise it were just the same balls, so you should not see much difference, if any at all unless you can compare a ball with and without the additive.
If such balls come to retail, the normally get marked, e .g. with a different pin color (like the Zone Classic Red Pin, Smokin' Inferno White Pin), and if I remember correctly the standard Sidewinder pin is orange?

My guess is that "dizzy" is correct. To the naked eye it may be extremely difficult to tell the difference. Here's why. The Sidewinder has the LOWEST particle load of any ball Brunswick has produced to date. The only time you MAY see a difference would be cutting through carry-down, which the particles would be helpful for that.

ahhh. ok. just was curious about that. thanks a lot! now any reason my sidewinder doesnt react as much as some of these other peoples? haha i had it drilled pin up and now redrilled it to rico. i roughed up the surface a bit but still no reaction it seems. if anything, it only moves about 2 boards on all different lane conditions.

The only thing I can think of is that there might not be enough oil. I have a sidewinder drilled at 5.5" pin up no extra hole and it moves a ton. It's on a par with my total inferno/black widow but with a different reaction shape and ability to cope with carrydown.

I was able to view some reactive only Sidewinders at my local pro-shop.  The ball was cosmeticaly different then the particle version.  

The non-particle balls had more of a luster or shine on them, compared to the rougher looking surface of the particle version.

I've never seen the non-particle Sidewinder go down the lane, so I can't comment on the performance differences.

anglobowler: ive tried the sidewinder and all different types of lane conditions. heavy oil, medium, carry down, dry, everything and in almost every house near me. still no reaction. my local pro shop says it could just be the ball because a lot of people have argued about it or something. not to sure. but all i know is that its no where near my widow. haha. thanks everyone.

yoshii, sorry you haven't had any joy with it, maybe you got one from a bad batch, or maybe mine's from and incorrect batch... Have you tried returning it to Brunswick to see if they can identify a problem?
