Title: Recreating the 500 siaair with rough buff finish
Post by: dougb on July 15, 2011, 10:59:41 PM
Brunswick reps,
I'm looking at resurfacing my Damage and wonder how long should I apply the rough buff on the spinner? What grit level does the ball actually end up at when it's done?
Thanks

Doug, are you trying to re-create the box finish? If so, you'll need to apply High Gloss after the Rough Buff.
I can't speak to the exact process used at the factory, but from my own experimentation, I've found that I can get close enough for my tastes by applying a half-dollar-sized amount of product to four sides of the ball, and then using a clean towel to buff the other two sides. So for the Damage, you'd need to do this with both the Rough Buff and the High Gloss.
Hope this helps, let us know how it works for you.

Thanks Ray. I found my Damage really came alive after I knocked some of the polish off of it, so I'll probably apply a very light coat. It stopped sliding through the oil and started bouncing back hard off the friction. It's a great ball and I wonder why there wasn't more talk about it.
I'd love to hear what grit level the company says the Damage and the Massive Damage get to in the factory after Rough Buff is applied.

I just put a NIB Damage on our NEW Ball Surface scanner and it has an average grit of slightly over 5200 and a NIB Revolver of slightly over 4500 and a NIB Storm VG Nano of slightly over 2400.
Use "IT" and BOWL UP A STORM!!

Why do you have a new ball surface scanner?
