I haven't seen any cover problems with any Brunswick cover stocks, new or old.
Improper use and improper care kill more balls than company's make duds. The friction generated by throwing strong equipment on less than their intended conditions wears them out faster than the oil absorption problems associated with throwing them on floods in my opinion.
If you throw on any "normal" lane condition, you don't
need anything stronger than a Classic Zone or Vapor Zone, unless your speed is highly dominant over your revs. If you like to stand left and fling a ball with a ton of revs at 21 mph to hook the whole lane, there are consequences. You're throwing a strong cover over a lot of dry boards. Most of the time, a good cleaning, a resurface, and a coat of polish makes these strong balls better for league shots and last longer.
