Slay/r
« on: October 08, 2006, 10:34:45 AM »
Hey all,

I am looking at drilling up a Slay/r to fill the last major gap in my arsenal and I was looking to get some layout advice. Most of my info is in my profile as well as pics of how the rest of my balls are drilled.

Thanks

Well, here's the thing...the werewolf I have is actually very strong for a plastic ball with a very smooth arcing motion. I am looking for something a bit more angular to fill this spot. I feel like the dry/r might be a little to smooth for what I'm looking for.

I have my SlayR drilled for 2 shift shot. Dry heads and it moves real well in the backend. It can be seen at http://home.cfl.rr.com/dolfan/images/SlayR.JPG Ball was a 15lb 5oz, 3oz top. 2-3 pin. The CG is 1 inch to the right of the grip center line. When my infernos are too much for the lanes that when this ball shines. Have shot 755 with it.

ok, thanks for the advice man...I guess I'll look into that ball a bit more. I think I was thinking of the groove urethane. I'm a big fan of the quantum series so I thought this ball might have been pretty decent, but I'll take your word on it.

The Slay/r is a very over/under ball for me.

I was looking for a weak ball that would clear dry heads but make a gentle move in the back end. Something I could go to after the heads were burnt & I needed to play an outside line to get around the carrydown. This was not it.

When this ball sniffs dry, it's gone. When there are dry heads, it just takes off. However just a little bit of oil out there & this ball is skidding past the breakpoint. Heck, any oil anywhere & this ball is skidding. So if you're in a carrydown situation, the ball will start to read the midlane & then hit the patchy oil & wobble.

At this point I'm thinking that I will just scuff the ball up & see how it does with a nice sheen on it. I fear it may be too close to my blueberry at that point though.
