Reliability of Brunswick Covers

Hey everyone. So I've just come back to bowling after taking about a 4.5 year haitus. Before I stopped, I threw exclusively Brunswick and Lane 1. I lived and died by my Infernos and Cherry Bomb. I just wanted to get some feedback on the lifespan of Brunswick's new covers. Specifically, do they last? I'm looking to purchase an Aura Mystic. The last ball I got was a single drill Twisted Fury but it was while I wasn't bowling. Since I've come back to bowling I just didn't care for it too much. I gave away all my other equipment and everything else needs to be fixed so all I have to compare it to is a dying Cherry Bomb and Radical Inferno. Anyway, any feedback on the newer products would be great. I've watched the videos but they only tell you so much.

We have a few guys at my center who throw them exclusively, lots of auras floating around there. As far as longevity they seem to be great. No reaction loss to speak of over time, and at least as durable as the next. If I were you I would have no concerns about it if I were purchasing one.

Nothing to worry about.  They respond to oil extraction and resurfacing as good as ever.  I still have some OLD favorites that I break out in practice once in a while and they still perform.

Love the stuff and have been using it since the late 90s.

I just posted a single drilled 15lb Mystic on ebay. It is a great ball that was a lot stronger then I was expecting. Very underrated release because it was suppose to be a step down. It isn't lol. It is a beast

There was only a short time of quality control issues when they moved to mexico.  From what I remembered it was marking cgs and mb or something like that. 

Being that they have one of the best assisting with covers now (phil) there shouldnt be any issues at all!

Nice. Thanks for the feedback. I'm taking a Total Inferno that was given to me to be plugged and redrilled. Just moved to a new area so I want to see how the pro-shop is before I have them drill up new equipment. Looks like I'll be purchasing an Aura Mystic sometime soon.

Do NOT listen to the winers who cannot list why something is bad. Brunswick did have some Quality Control issues at first when they moved to Mexico. I have NOT had ANY issues with them since they cleaned that up. They make very good, long lasting bowling equipment. I DO try to buy American products when ever possible. I am still using a Wicked Siege, Red Zone, Vapor Zone, Prime Zone, and Wild Thing.  I still have some other Brunswick balls NIB. Some are before the move, some are since. I trust Brunswick and their bowling equipment.

THIS IS JUST MY HONEST OPINION!

Brunswick did have some earlier problems in Mexico due to the a/c units not functioning up to par, thus affecting the ball's curing process. That has long been remedied. I started with Brunswick & Ebonite, then migrated to Storm/Roto Grip, now i'm back with Brunswick (and Radical). We all throw our equipment differently and because of that we all have our favorites as well as those that don't match-up. I feel it's unfair to "dis" a company because of a few mistakes/bad breaks. I've thrown a few Storm balls that haven't measured-up to me and others, but that's expected. Good journalism starts with an open mind.

Please remember that the people in your center do not constitute the bowling universe. I have seen your declarations that because you and the people you see using XXX balls do not like them, therefore the bowling universe cannot possibly like XXX balls. That does not reflect everyone's reality.

I haven't thrown Brunswick in quite some time, not since the Inferno line but I've always been pleased with how durable Brunswick's coverstocks have been for me. From what I've seen and heard their covers hold up as well as they ever did. But I've noticed all the newer equipment hold up about the same 50-60 games before a good resurfacing and oil extraction and they react "like" new again.

PK 18 and Activator were the most durable covers on the market.  Overall Fury line was a step in the wrong direction with the exception of the Pearl Fury which was a very under appreciated ball.  New stuff seems much better, but I haven't really thrown enough of it to compare longevity to the earlier shells.

Yeah, that was what I was trying to get a feel for. I had Infernos with hundreds maybe even over a 1000 games on them and they were fantastic. Just seemed to keep going. The Twisted Fury I had given to me is almost impossible to get a consistent read from. From what I've seen, the Aura Mystic looks like a fantastic ball and I'm hoping to get a stronger but similar reaction from the Intense/Smokin'/Radical Infernos that I loved.
