Fury worth trying?
« on: December 13, 2007, 07:24:04 AM »
Right now, I have a twisted fury on the way.  Bowlingball.com is having a great sale on the Fury for 75 bucks a NIB.  Is it worth the buy?

Around vegas they are not well liked they do not respond well to surface changes, i had it and it was too early oob and skated too much at 2k. Weird ball shot well when i had polished on top of box finish but then tried 4-5 surface changes and it never acted the same way again.

I rarely hear anything good about it when i am visiting my local pro shop fro other users, i do love the fury pearl and just got the twisted yesterday finally.

Hard to say it much better. My experience has been roughly the same.

SAME HERE. Hated the ball. It worked fine for about 15 games then it did whatever it wanted to all the other games. I polished it out of the box, and it had a huge backend. Kept it polished nice, then it was my "I wanna crack you in half" ball. LOL

No one I know that had the Fury liked it... It did not like surface changes at all.. A buddy of mine that buys every new Brunswick ball tried 2 of then and both where turds..

I would add a few bucks to the $75 and buy something else..

i must have been the only one that liked it...little strong for THS but on the longer patterns like shark that we see in the regionals it has been great.

Not the only one.  Mine was great in box finish for taming fresh wet-dries, but I've got it polished now to handle the mediums.  I like the combination of power and predictability that I get from the Fury.

mine has been very versatile with surface changes, angle of attack, and changes in axis rotation. this ball has been great on the pba cheetah pattern finished at 4,000 abralon and using an end over end roll. on a typical house pattern i had to add brunswicks polish to avoid the ball burning up too soon. at 2,000 abralon it worked great on freshly oiled lanes where the backends had not been cleaned.

How can you go wrong for $75?

I really like mine at around 1500-2000. The ball reads pretty early and continues to the pocket.  Is it a skid-snap ball?  Not even close.  This ball is best when the lanes are tighter and all the other bowlers start "whining".

Very smooth, predictable, roll.  When other balls are over-under this ball will keep you out of trouble.  For myself, I save it it the locker for those situations.  If you want an "arsenal ball" this is a good fit because it is different.

I did have another one drilled weaker that I shined that was also very good, but I did need to play a straighter line.   But really, at a spare ball price you'd be getting an important ball to have; maybe not the everyday ball depending on your style, but a lifesaver at times.

I like mine. It's somewhere between 2K & 4K Abrolon, and I love it on a medium-heavy house shot, and longer flatter patterns. I know a few others who love their's polished, but practically nobody can throw it in it's out of box finish.
