Monster Green Black and my struggles with dry lanes
« on: February 22, 2005, 09:13:46 AM »
My home house tends to put out very light oil.  couple that with hardly ever reoiling (for instance, they do a 3 hour saturday night special thats pretty popular.  however, they have leagues sunday morning.  therefore, instead of them reoiling for us, we get the leftovers of the oil they put out saturday around 8ish.  always fun trying to figure out that shot.)

anyway, ive been encoutering a slightly difficult problem lately.  basically, there isnt enough oil to use my punisher (pin over bridge, cg kicked out to right about na inch or so) and too much to use my urethane groove without significantly slowing my speed down.  The Punisher CAN be used, but i have to move way left and swing it a whole ways, which i havnet been having much success with.  My comfort zone is more around up 10.

So now that youve read through all of that, heres my question.  I have a Green Black Monster with a 1 inch pin drilled stacked about an inch or two under the ring finger.  Do you think the ball will fit between the punisher and the urethane groove?

No I dont think it will. If you cant use a punisher on it, its pretty dry. The green/black is close to the punisher but more arcy I think. You'd be better just playing really straight with the groove, or HIGHLY polishing the green/black.

I don't think monster will be terribly weaker, but then again i'd have to drill two balls the exact same as you to know.  It might be, but if it's not, just polish it a lot, and break your wrist in your swing (don't keep it straight or cupped).

IME the Green/Black is stronger than the Punisher.  It isn't quite as clean in front, and it is sharper at the break.

If you're looking to fit something between the Punisher and urethane, you might have to look either at a SlayR or a Power Groove drilled weak.

a power groove drilled very weak. They are strong man, trust me. A slay/r polished up would be good. OR BETTER, put it in a lustre king and wax it. Gives it more length and less backend.

well im KINDA strapped for cash lately.  If its settled that i pretty much have to buy a new ball, then ill find a way to go out and buy one, but if its possible to do something to my green black monster, id much rather do that

throw the green/black in to the lustre king. it waxes balls, it doesnt polish them. it tames the reaction a lot.
