What's the best fit?
« on: January 05, 2006, 02:13:37 AM »
Hey everyone,

I'm looking to possibly place a ball in between my medium-light piece and my plastic spare ball. Right now, I have a Blazing Inferno (drilled pin above bridge, cg just off midline to the negative, box finish) that I use for medium light. Is there a Big B ball that I could place under the Blazing? I'd be looking for length, length, length and a smooth, controllable turn down the lane. What do you guy/gals think? I was thinking of the following balls as options: Punisher, Zone Classic (Red Pin) or Groove Urethane. What do you think of these options? Am I leaving any good choices out?

try to get your hands on a Quantum Elite Limited Edition on ebay.
PowerKoil 14 Coverstock, Inferno Core.
great for spares when the lanes a oiled and a 2 piece tank when things dry up.

got mine for $35 shipped.

go get one, only 750 made!

I'll have to check ebay to see what I can find.

Jeff, as for the Dry/R, I've heard some strange things about that ball. A lot of people reported that it is actually stronger than advertised. I guess I'll have to read more reviews or find someone who's thrown one.

You could get a Punisher with a pin near PAP and a touch of polish.

I've thrown the Dry/R, and for me, it performs as advertised.  It's cleaner in front than the reactive Power Grooves, and not nearly as jumpy at the break.  Overall, I have it about four boards weaker than the Punisher, and two weaker than the Red Pin.

Punisher would definitely be too strong for what you want.  I have a Red Pin CZ and that's exactly where mine fits.  A little less than my Slate Blue Gargoyle and Blue Hot Flame, more than my plastic ball.  I don't have a Blazing or Dry/R to compare to, but I think a red pin CZ would be a good choice.
