Is Brunswick truly the complete bowling supply company?
« on: January 26, 2005, 01:45:04 PM »
There are a few companies in the bowling ball industry that cover every element of the bowler's needs.

Tape, grip products, shoes, bags, and novelties as well.

i know brunswick makes polish that is close as possible to the factory finish, and they do or did make tape.

if they do have these products they need to market them more throughtly.

I know that ebonite covers every element of the market except for shoes, but dynothane shoes here are more popular than there own company's bags.

There is always room for improvement, there balls, and bags cover a broad range of the market, but they are lagging in the other smaller segments of the industry.

I know that they own DBA, so why not look into aquiring Master products and making them pba approved again. you'd buy up everything a bowler would ever need, and it would have the Big B with the Crown on it.

No bashing here, i just want to see a more competitive market place for all.

Come' on Brunswick you could really be king.

They do have shoes, albeit cheap $20.00 shoes, but nevertheless, they are bowling shoes.

yeah i know but they look like poo. they are not even close to the quality of the etonics for the average level of bowler.

besides the brunswicks are made by dexter.
and they have no higher average shoes.

If Brunswick came out with a high performance shoe, similar to Linds or Dynos they  could truly meet the needs as far as balls/bags/shoes/shirts goes. If they got into wrist devices (robot arms included), tape, and other accessories, I am sure they would do more business than they already do.

Actually, Brunswick has a pretty nice looking pair of intermediate type shoes. They are left or right handed (separate, not together), black and bronze colored. My son had a pair -they're quite nice. And reasonably priced.

the following companies atleast make balls bags, and bowlers tape
amf, brunswick, columbia300(progrip), ebonite, storm( they have tape now)

companies that make wrist supports:
columbia(gloves mostly they don't make the bulky ones), ebonite, and storm.

there is already a few microsoft wanna bees in the industry, storm and ebonite especially.

I'm really interested in the throughts of BrunsRic or BrunsBob or any other staff.

I guess Brunswick would venture into any product category where the volumes are right. Perhaps high performance bowling shoes isn't a big enough category.

I wasn't going to reply because when I do it usually means the end of a thread for some reason.
I have called on all type of industry as a trouble-shooter.
Brunswick like many other quality companies choose to only sell what they manufacture or can assure the quality of. I have bought many supposed brand products because they had Ebonite or some other recognizable name that were poor quality. In addition the majority of items like tape and cleaners are made by companies called contract manufacturers who make them for everyone.
Brunswick bowling shoes are made for the average family bowler that's why they market them thru K-mart & other retailers. Most bowling bags are made by two mfg. for every one.
Sporting good companies farm out everything but their primary product.
Brunswick is a first class bowling ball company not bowling supply company.
They don't put their name on everything just to make a buck.
