Enough with the rico questions!!! Jesus christ, you'd think this drilling was the saviour from all the comments it gets! This reminds me of all the 315 degree drilling questions of about a year ago. Can we just move on from Rico? Or can we at least call it "5 inches from pap with pin in grip center" or just "standard drilling that was on many balls in the 80's when the pins were too short for exotic drills?"

Mr. Sterner, you are correct. Pin in palm (aka pin weight) was an excellent drilling for wet/dry lanes with a hard arc. As someone else stated, many Power Torqs were drilled like this. Mine was, and I really liked it.

Quite frankly, if I skipped all the rico threads, I'd have nothing to read.  Nobody talks about anything else now.  I used to be able to answer questions like "what layout should I put".  Now, the only questions ever are "will rico work on this"....There isn't anything to answer anymore since everyone just wants to use rico....

But mainly, the thing that annoys me is that it's just a fad.  Someone used it, now EVERYONE wants to use it, even if they shouldn't.  Just like sarge easter a little while ago, that was the greatest thing ever.

Thank you andy for being the ONLY person to understand my point.

Can you just imagine someone going into a proshop, having no drilling knowledge, and saying "I want this ball with the pin in the grip center, cg at 45 degrees and weighthole 6 3/4 inches through the cg" and then the poor pro shop operator telling them that there is no need to use this drilling on the cake shot they are bowling on? I understand some of the more frequent users asking about this layout, but we have people on here who couldn't tell the difference if a pin was axis drilled or over the ring finger because they are so inconsistent (I.e. profile averages in the 160's, new bowlers) asking about this drilling.

Its true, I can just skip over the thread, but I find it annoying when I go into any forum and the first 6 threads every day are  "will rico work" or "what about rico."
