If you've found the Ringer coverstocks have too much backend, maybe you should consider alternate drillings as well as surface preparations, before trying other balls.
Also be sure you're using balls on the condition for which they are designed. Like, the Ringer needs around medium oil for the average rev, average ball speed bowler. Often when you use polished balls on lighter than designed for conditions, the ball may exhibit a much stronger backend because there's not enough oil to hold back the hook.
