Ball between Total shock and Awe and Smokin'
« on: September 13, 2005, 11:29:57 AM »
I have a smokin' drilled with a pin to pap of 3 3/4 inches 2 in above mid.  My total is drilled with a pin to pap of 4 1/2 or slightly more with a high pin (aprox. 4 in)  the mb is kicked in slightly to give the ball more backend.  The total is in box finish and the smokin has the rough buff.  Neither have an x hole.  I am looking for a ball to fall in between these.  I have been thinking about the ultimate with either rough buff or high gloss with a similar pin to pap and about a 3 above mid.  I have a strike, and in my experience it has a very early read and a hard reving arc to the pocket.  I have always felt that the UI is a bit cleaner with more of a skid snap break that to me would be a better matchup to my game.  I was also thinking of either a skock and awe at about 800 grit (& low pin) or a TA, but the ultimate is the front runner as of right now.

I will not get an AI as it is too even, had one already.  Good suggestion though as overall hook falls inbetween.  Many people describe the Classic as a rollier more even version of the OI.  Considering the Classic and Strike have the same core and so does the OI and the UI.  The Strike should be rollier than the UI.  This concurs with everything I have seen.  Inverted 1 what two are you talking about.  The Strike and the UI if so why would brunswick release the strike AND leave the UI in the current releases.  They do not do virtually the same thing.  If your talking about the UI vs the TS&A that is incorrect also.  The TS&A from everything I have seen hooks more than the UI especially a UI with less surface.  The question is whether the ball, polished (or ruff buff) will be closer to the TS&A or the Smokin'.

Get a Rampage.  Mine run's circles around my Smoking Inferno, but I guess that COULD just be me.

Got one, but the changes I have made to it tame it down a bit while my changes to the smoking have added hook.  More midlane and less backend  for the smokin' is really the only difference.
