Sanding a Brunswick Fury Pearl

Has anyone out there tried sanding their Fury Pearl?  I have one and I am considering a surface change for my 2nd shift, THS league.  My goal would be twofold.  First, to get it to read a little earlier.  Second, to get it to track a little better in medium oil with carrydown without sacrificing hitting power from a line that is a little deeper inside than I can normally play it with the OOB surface.

Basically you can sand any ball, and I have 2 Fury Pearl, one polished one sanded, I would say you can try sand it down to 2000 and give it a shot.

Isn't the basic Fury Pearl finish a 4000 grit Abralon sanding?
If so, then the next step down, under normal circumstances, is 2000 grit Abralon. As such that should handle a good deal of oil and carrydown UNLESS you're a high speed bowler with a lower rev rate.

In box finish, my Fury Pearl gave me a decent look, but I like the reaction much better after taking it down to 320 and adding a coat of Rough Buff.

FWIW, when the Fury Pearl came out, a number of guys out here were scuffing the Pearl and shining the solid Fury, and reversing their positions in the bag.  That is, they used their Fury Pearl on oilier mediums or on the fresh, and the polished solid Fury as a go-to ball.

I keep mine at 2 k abralon no polish, reads better and hooks more overall. It was kind of a dog in 4k with over under problems, small change and boom a ball that is worth keeping.
